Need a new carb. 2 barls

Hi

I want to know where I can find a new 2 brls carb. for a 283 cu.in. and a 2 speeeds trans.

For now I have a 2 brls carb with oil air filter. The carb is not connect to the trans.

Can I change it for an air filter carb?

I want someting to fit with the transmission.

Thank You Guys

I think so    but we will wait for another answer      I wonder about a re-built carb from a parts store like Napa or Car Quest

I could be wrong but I believe every SBC intake 1986 and down are interchangeable. Afther that if i remember correctly the 4 bolt in the center dont fit if the intake holes are not sloted .

What you need is the linkage for the kickdown (automatically downshift when you stomp on the gas pedal) eh?

If i were you .... i would go buy a nice 650cfm edelbrock carb with electric choke .... you won't regret it ! And they make kickdown bracket for any transmission .

I doubt you're going to find a original linkage for your application . That's why i sugested going towards a Edelbrock carb and braket.
You can find them online or at any speedshop .

Tu habite quel coin ?

I personaly would never put a used Carb on a good engine ....
Pay a bit more and be sure to enjoy the rest of the summer !!

Your carb will be a small base Rochester 2GC , sometime in the mid 60's the base pattern changed.

if you want to stay true to the original design, the part number for a rebuilt carb is 3-324 .

you can use the number and go to Carquest with it, since they are now part of Advance auto parts or type 3-324 carburetor in Google and let the magic of the web do it stuff ! :p

What's wrong with the carb on the car now? I'd lean towards rebuilding that one, and sourcing the missing kickdown linkage. Aftermarket reman carbs often leave a lot to be desired. And the oil bath air cleaner is really a superior design to paper filters. The manufacturers only switched because paper filters are cheaper (for them, not the end user).

I agree with Brad, rebuild the original you have.
