66 Canso grill ( cleaned up )

Looking at cleaning up my grill and don't think it is chromed, anodized maybe? Tried to polish but wont come up, might just be 50 years of grime. Anyone know if these are cast aluminum or pot metal, also the inside of the grill is painted a silver colour and was wondering if anyone what colour  it is. You can see from my pic where the polished/chromed edge stops and the paint starts. Thanks Jim

I'm not 100% sure Jim but I'm pretty sure it's anodized aluminum.

Your right again Carl, my buddy Doug gave me a few tips on cleaning it up. Found a rim colour almost bang on, spent the day on it and cleaned up nice!

Doug (GrtDanes) gave me a call and said to use extra fine steel wool. Worked great! The anodizing had blotchy marks all over it that polish wouldn't touch and I didn't want to be too aggressive and end up removing the anodizing. The steel wool was just enough to remove the stains without harming the anodizing. Thanks Doug, I O U a beer.gif
