Some years back, when I was gathering parts for my 496 (all forged internals, big hydraulic roller cam, Brodix aluminum heads, etc.), I bought a Mighty Demon 850 cfm 4bbl. No choke, double-pumper, recommended as part of a 600HP build in a hot rod magazine.
I had always used Holley 4bbl carbs, double-pumpers in my road race Corvette and my L-88 clone 427 street Corvette, and the original carb that came on my 66 Chevelle SS396 and my 67 Corvette 427. So now I am rethinking my original purchase maybe get a Holley HP850 cfm double-pumper instead.
Anybody have experience with the Demon? Better yet, Demon versus Holley? Power? Good street manners? etc.
I have had my 650 cfm Demon on my 355 sbc in my Canso SD for 9 years and have had no problems with it. It works flawlessly and was very easy to initially set up with vacuum guage (4 ports for vacuum setting). My 2 cents worth.
I am not a serious racing guy, had a 283 with a stock Rochester 4 GC that I could never get to work good. Never had a Holley (other than a 3.9 87 Dakota with a 2 barrel, but I'm sure that doesn't count) and someone who knew his stuff suggested a Quick Fuel. I got one and it worked perfect right out of the box. It also takes all the Holley parts, but looks very well made with a lot of billet stuff.

They all make us happy when they work, they all make us mad when we get bad fuel and plug them up I had a holley 650 on my small block and have a 850 quick fuel on my big block both work great and have friends with the demon that swear by them. I believe demon and quick fuel are made by former holley employees.
