My 63 has a SBC in it, the seller said it was a 350. Its painted black, is pale blue underneath on valve covers, oil pan and the block. The intake is Chevy orange underneath, so likely doesn't match the block. It has oil fill and PCV valve covers.
Rear of block 3970010= 69-79 350. I can't see a date code, will do some more cleaning- is the code likely to be next to the casting number?
Front pad has 751316204 which I assume is a partial VIN?
Also has K0609 CMJ- so would this be Oct 6? Year 69 or 79?
The CMJ translates as a 1974 police 350 (it was used in 1980 in a Camaro 305, but different casting number).
If its a 74, what does the K0609 translate as?
Not wanting to pull the valve covers yet to see what heads it has.
Thanks for any help.

On the partial vin the last six numbers are production numbers 316204. The 1 in front would be Oshawa built car the 5 would be the year 1975 and I am sure the 7 would mean Pontiac. The cmj is also used in the 75 year.
Definitely nothing on a year on the back of the block. "On the side" is by the starter?
Ironic that it may be a 75 block, my first new car was a 75 Nova, 350 2 barrel automatic, 4 door, tinted glass, PS, PB, and posi. It was quite good on fuel if you didn't drive too fast, first year for radials (Uniroyal steel belted) and first year for a cataylic converter, they smeeled like rotten egg gas. It was delivered in July or Aug, so the block would likely have been built around June. I imagine it was orange though, not blue.
