Still looking for under hood wire harness. Plugs into firewall side of fuse box. One harness is for headlights(four lamp system) parking lights, voltage regulator(don't need) horn. The small one is for distributor, oil idiot light, starter solenoid, water temp. I'm working on a 59 but pretty sure late fifties through to mid sixties is the same.
I likely have a used under hood for a 62 6 cylinder. It would be wired for a stock starter and a generator, plus a 62 had an idiot light for temperature and oil pressure, your 59 would have a temp gauge.
I also have a used under dash harness from a 62 Bel Air 6 cylinder. The dash in the 62 is wider than a 59, so it may work pretty good. 62's have no temp gauge like the 59, it also had a 1 speed wiper (but I think that was a separate wire anyway), no radio. I drove the car home so the harness is likely half decent. The 59 had a ballast resister wire in the harness, the 62 was the same. The 62 had an ignition key for acc, lock, off, on, start. The 59 Elco had no acc, but you can just not use that plug on the harness.
What do you think?

I bought a very nice repro harness for my '64 ... very affordable, and authentic (has all the correct wire coverings), if you want the original look. New is good.
