I'm rounding the bend and headed home on my 51 Gasser. Last but not least, I have been looking high and low for a decent rearend. Well, I found one in a 1957 Pontiac right here in town. So, the only way I get the rear is by buying the whole car. I have no use for the 57 so, I'm testing the water to see if someone else is interested in the 57 after I remove the rearend.
This is a car that looks to have been someone's gasser project at some point. It has some rust in the trunk, pass side floor is gone along with the windshield. Dash is complete except the speedo. I believe that a 2dr hardtop is still a good candidate for any project. If I pull the rear, I will install the rear from my 50 project just so it rolls. The seller says there is a 400 ci pontiac and 350 turbo that comes with the project but I'm sure they are just cores. I will post the pics he sent me but I haven't seen the car in person.
I think in order to make this doable, I would need $1,750 cdn or $1200 usd for the roller. I would be able to deliver when I'm in Michigan to Ontario.
The main thing I'm looking for now is opinions on this vehicle for the price I listed. Do you think I can get my money if I buy it for the rearend?
That appears to be a US Pontiac by the brake pedal coming "up" from floor, & longer body panels?? Not to pour water on your fire BUT parts a pretty scarce up here for those, + Taxes at the border [both sides now] & another Provincial tax in Ont when transferring "Title' or ownership as we call it ads a lot to cost of vehicle before you even start.
