so I decided to keep the 283 for now. I put a set of block huggers on and an edelbrock torker intake and a stock Quadra jet 4 bbl. now having problems getting it to fire. got fuel and spark but think my timing is still out. also I managed to get under my car and I was shocked to find what appears to be a Ford 9 inch rear end???? with positive at that I'm pretty sure this is not normal lol

Could be for where it's from. The rear ends look like the Ford 9". My Impala has a 3:36 posi in it. But my pontiacs do not my convertible was a BC car too.

cool good to know thanks. another thing I got an hei distributor and was going to get rid of points but turns out I haven't got enough room between the dizzy and the firewall any ideas how to get it in without pulling the engine?

I just got pertronics and kept my old distributor. They will go in without pulling the engine just can't to it with the cap in if I remember correctly
