RE: 1969 Pontiac Laurentian Update

Sweet Ride! Nicely Done. Colors are very nice. Never had as much appreciation for the simpler cars when they were new cars in the 60's & 70's but with the beautiful rides in this site, appreciation is there now. Heart and soul not like the angry faced cars of today

Interesting it has a cloth interior.  The 70 454 Laurentian I just sold also had a cloth interior, I would have thought they were all vinyl.

Our light blue Laurentian was a light-blue bench. I have only a very vauge recollection of the original interior, as we reupholstered it.

One thing I =do= remember is that, being small enough to lay in the back foot wells as a kid, the (original factory) upholstery on the back of the driver's seat was horizontal and the back of the passenger seat was vertical (it's a ribbed fabric). Hilarious that it was completely wrong (on at least one side!) direct from the factory.

Also had a from-the-factory defect in the fuse block terminal that caused no shortage of angst on long road trips (sporadic ALT light). They weren't perfect when new!

Any chance we can get a picture of the back of the front bench?  I always wondered which way it was SUPPOSED to go!

I found an old original pic of mine, and mine too were horizontal. Sorry to alarm you!

I love that your car looks like the actual cars of the day.   In addition to my black one there was a dark brown Laurentian in my neighborhood, and they all looked like yours (but not as clean and nice!).   You just don't see them restored like that, and you've done an amazing job.

Cloth was standard equipment, vinyl was optional.

Beautiful car!!

Thanks

Did you ever get a chance to look at the bottom half of the seat back (the back of the seat, the part that faces the back seat, not the part you sit on)? That's where my car from the factory had one side horizontal and one side vertical striped material. It'd be awesome if yours was wrong too (being the same color and year and factory, who knows!). But if not then we'll know which way is right!

Hi Dave! Sorry for the delay in my reply. Just saw this now and went out to the car to check. Attached is a picture of what I see. I must be missing it.

That's awesome, I haven't seen that view since about 1976. But yes, on my car from the factory, that material on the bottom of the seat back was installed horizontally on the passenger side.

Looks Amazing, hope to get mine somewhere like this one day??

Question for you, the front grill area, mine does not flow like yours near the nose, it has another peice of chrome between the nose and lights, any idea what the differences are about??? I prefer the smooth desing like yours but can't find any info about it.

You have a Grande Parisienne, which has an upgraded metal grill. Same as the US Bonneville. I think they're nicer than the plastic ones, but to each their own. I upgraded mine to an NOS Bonneville set!
