1960 Strato Chief on hold.

I tell you this low dollar of ours has just brought my work on the Chief to a stand still unless someone on here knows of a Canadian source for parts such as floor pans and brake conversions. The sponsor site of NOS has not been any help to me. They do not have floor pans and the only place I found ( thanks to this forum) for a brake conversion is Summit out of the states.

Can any one help me out and point me in the right direction for parts in Canada.

Thanks in advance.

We feel your pain. We are slowing down also as we are running out of parts we have stocked while the dollar was decent.

There is a supplier to body shops that list some old Chevy stuff, I can't remember the name maybe someone here will its Canadian ________________. Another source is Antique Chevrolet near Toronto. Problem is, if they don't have it in stock, when they order it, it will be from the US anyway.

Maybe some used stuff from a junk yard on the prairies for floor pans?

Did you search on the NOS website, or did you call them?

I've had very little luck buying stuff off their website but they have been able to help me almost every time when I needed to buy something. I just call or email them.

I'll second Rock Auto. Even with our dollar in the crapper plus shipping and stuff, it's still a bunch cheaper than local. I'd love to support local business, but apparently they all want 100% mark ups so Rock Auto it is!

Boy, that has not been my experience at all with NOS. I have found them to be very competitive and sometimes less than buying it out of the US from the popular US suppliers.

I should clarify, that wasn't a shot at NOS. I haven't bought anything from NOS yet. My most recent thing was dealing with Parts Source and NAPA locally here with somewhat easy to find mechanical parts for my 57. Example, full engine gasket set for my 261 at Parts Source...$155 and 2 weeks out. Rock Auto, $58 cdn. It worked out to half price, after the exchange, after shipping and in my hands. Took 5 days to get here.

I'm sure NOS is finding it tough like most Canadian Small Businesses. I shut down my online store mostly because 90% of my stock came from the U.S. The exchange rates were pushing 35% (banks add another 2.5% whether you are paying by credit card or a money order). Then you get charged HST when the product is imported. That's ok since I can get that refunded however custom's ads processing fees. The cost to get product shipped from the U.S to Canada is also going up. It was getting harder and harder to compete with U.S dealers.
