Spent a few minutes searching the web tonight to see if I could come up with production numbers on the 1973 SS. All sources I searched do not have definitively figures on SS production except good ole George does in Oshawa. There were 8 454 4 speed 1973 SS's made in Oshawa.
Overall I found the figures of 28,647 SS both two door and wagons were built, 2500 were 454 and of those 600 were 4 speed. The 2500 figure comes up a lot but it surely is an estimate.
I knew they were rare, but only 8 built in Oshawa? Wow, I have seen 3 of the 8 over the last 40 years. There was a Chamois one for sale about 7 years back, plus I remember a Medium Red Metallic one in Dundas, Ontario back in the 1970s that had a factory sliding sunroof as well and was still rolling on Firestone Wide Ovals.
Somebody redid the seat covers and door panel inserts. While not exactly stock & correct, the colour does match the original. If you want the shifter to look 100% correct, replace the white shift ball with a 1972+ Camaro shift ball.
I like that there is an LS6 under the hood now, as that is what I would have wanted back in the day. Today in Southern Ontario you are looking at fines for not having a smog pump, fines for not having an EGR valve...

I don't judge a man by how far he's fallen, but by how far back he bounces - Patton

Cam that was 8 454 4 speed combo. Remember the vast majority of these were L48's. I'm sure there were plenty more 4 speed L48 combos.
Regarding the EGR and smog pump - I don't think they have to work but have to be there to be legal. All that plumbing rusted off the manifolds in less than three years back in the day.
Joel Rosen from Baldwin Motion built one with the Phase III 427/L88 M22 4:88 gear Hone-O-Drive overdrive making it the Only and last and most expensive '73 Chevelle costing $12,030!!!! What a bargain.......Boy those were the days my friend.

You can see that car right HERE ....brace yourself.
The $35K USD for this particular car is optimistic. Non-numbers and lots of liberties taken during restoration affect the market value, even if it is clean as a whistle.
...Kinda fonda the 1973 Chevelle SS wagon. Only SS wagon ever offered, one year only.
There is a 73 SS wagon in Penticton that is a factory 454 car, although it hasn't been on the road for a few years. His dad has the red 454 2+2 convertible that also hasn't been driven in a while. Clint knows the car I think.
