Lois Lane drove those in the original Superman TV series. I wonder if an LS motor would fit...

There's a convert in Manitoba with a 454 in it, so an LS would sure fit!

See them all the time with blowers and wheelie bars out the back, a yellow one would be good for hauling bees around?

Are those actually classified as automobiles or over sized toys. They never did anything to stir my pot.

The Nash Metropolitan was the result of Nash merging an Austin chassis & drivetrain, plus a Pininfarina-styled body built by Fisher-Ludlow that followed in the styling of the early 50s Nashes. There was one 2 doors down from me back in the 1960s when I was a little kid. Perfect for when you are not quite ready to graduate from a pedal car.

That is a crazy looking Metro above. It is sort of cool, but it probably wouldn't be stable on the quarter with that short wheelbase.

Trivia: The Metro had 2 different grilles, one floating bar style used through 1956, then a 2nd mesh style that ran 1957-62.

Also trivia: The last Metro was manufactured in 1960, they just kept redesignating a new model year to the unsold units, the last of which were sold as 1962 models. Ford later tried that trick with the leftover 1970 Cortinas in Canada. They redesignated them as 1971 models and were hit with a class-action suit.

I'm surprised that nobody caught the red 1964 Beaumont coupe that shares the garage with the Nash. This is a Canadian Pontiac site isn't it? wink

This would be a chance to go see a Metropolitan, and then steer the conversation to "how about that red car over there"?

Our neighbour across from us in Cobourg ON. had 3 of them ... it seemed like he was wrenching on them more than driving them. He used to take one out with no muffler on it ... my parents didn't appreciate it too much!biggrin

Beep Beep (Little Nash Rambler)

cho: Beep beep (beep beep),
     Beep beep (beep beep),
His horn went beep beep beep (beep beep).

While riding in my Cadillac, what to my surprise,
A little Nash Rambler was following me, about one-third my size.
The guy must have wanted to pass me out
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep).
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn.

cho:

I pushed my foot down to the floor to give the guy the shake,
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind, he still had
on his brake.
He must have thought his car had more guts,
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep).
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn.

cho:

My car went in to passing gear and we took off with gust,
And soon we were doing ninety, must have left him in the dust.
When I peeked in the mirror of my car, I couldn't believe my eyes.
The little Nash Rambler was right behind, you'd think that
guy could fly.

cho:

Now we're doing a hundred and ten, it certainly was a race,
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy would be a big disgrace.
The guy must have wanted to pass me out as he kept on tooting his horn.
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn.

cho:

Now we're doing a hundred and twenty, as fast as I could go.
The Rambler pulled alongside of me as if we were going slow.
The fellow rolled his window down and yelled for me to hear:
"Hey, buddy, how can I get this car out of second gear?"+
"

Cam, the ugh of that Nash must have distracted us from seeing the beautiful car in the back ground.
