Newbie from Fraser Valley BC

Hi everyone, been skulking around the site while negotiating my purchase. Seems to be full of lots of useful info and helpful people! I'm happy to say I'm the proud new owner of a 1968 Beaumont Convertible. I'm a newbie when it comes to forums etc so I'll try to learn as fast as I can and not annoy anyone. . I'll try to upload a couple pics so hope it works.

Thanks Greaser!  It's actually from Medicine Hat, spent its whole life there with 3 prior owners prior to my purchase last week, even came with original manual, protecto plate and "how to use the convertible" guide. The 307 PG combo is long gone but its got a stout 350/350 in its place biggrin  Put there when restored in the late 90's but it 99% rust free to start with.    Just have to go through BC's ridiculous out of Province inspection then I can exhale.

Thanks for the tip Lefty, I actually went with Hagerty for collision & comprehensive as there was no other way to have any insurance while I towed back from Alberta. Plus with Hagerty I can drive to work a bit and not have to deal with the pictures and potential 'infractions' with ICBC collector plates. Was a bit more $ but hope it works out okay if I ever have a claim.

you still have to have basic insurance with ICBC.
with collectors plates it will only be a couple hundred
then add on Hagerty's

Correct, I realize I need basic ICBC.  You  bring up a good point though, do you think it's worthwhile having ICBC Collector plates PLUS Hagerty?

You can get "modified"collector plates, just has to go through an MVI-inspection, which he is already going to have to do.

if you have a vehicle registered as a 1958 model or older that has been modified, it may qualify for modified collector vehicle status.
as long as you don't mind not driving to work and have another registered car it will save quite a bit.

Forgot about the 58 or older. No luck with the Canso I guess!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to many miles and smiles with the top down, and some fun wrenching and tinkering when we have one of our many rainy days here!

Very nice car! Is that the original colour? I think that might be the original colour for my 69.

Thank you and yes it is, QQ code Verdoro Green ( hope I spelled that correct, I didn't check first).  I believe a Pontiac only colour,  by that I mean not available on the Chevelle As far as I could tell.

Nope, it was available on 1968 Chevelles. I ordered a Malibu from the factory in Verdoro Green with black interior. Was delivered exactly as ordered.

Real nice looking car, yours, I mean.  Welcome from Whitecourt Alberta.

Fred

Hi Fred, thanks for the update and confirming.  I got my info from here

http://chevellestuff.net/1968/paint.htm so it must be that Canadian built cars could be ordered in that colour while maybe the US ones couldn't?
