i am looking for some affordable unrestored drivein movie speakers.  I am looking for a matched pair and would like the mount for them to hang on.  Looking for something that can be cleaned up but looking for outdoor use so not looking for mint restored.

Are you planning to just display them, or to use them for sound?

The announcement at the drive-in's was the speakers were not compatible with home systems, and to not take them home.

Not sure what the difference is, but sounds like they weren't the typical 8 ohm speaker.

I think they just said that to deter theft. I remember one hooked up to the radio in one of the farm trucks as a kid. It seemed to work ok.

Not sure yet. Defiantly display but may look at converting them if possible to work on the back deck

When I did mine the speakers were trash but the volume controls were ok. Bought new speakers and knobs at jaycar and wired in a plug which will have its mate under the seat of the car. Picks up speaker wires and power for the lamp When displaying.

I had look on ebay and there seem to be quite a few. Even some with no interals so you can put in your choice of speaker
