Newbie from New Zealand

image.jpegimage.jpeg

image.jpegHi all

attached is a pic of my 1960 Pontiac Parisenne I have owned it for about 13 years I found it in shed where it had been for 12 years.

It had been restored but had been a rush job and within a couple years it started to show.

2013 I started a full rebuild new sills, floors, door skins, etc.

The pic,s of it in black are current and it should be back on the road in a few weeks all going to plan

its running a 327 and a powerglide.

cheers Jason

Welcome from Sydney. Lots of great advice available here. Can we have some pics of your car? I think I like the 60s as much, or even more than the 67s.

A hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario, Canada. Jason, you are going to love being on C.P. with your sweet looking 60 Poncho. We here need more photos and more information about your 60, also if you have any questions about your car, ask away. There are a number of 60 Pontiac experts on here. Jason, was your car originally a 261 inline six, i see you have a later 327 now. Good luck with the resto of your 60. Cheers. George

Cheers long stroke

up until today I though it was a Pontiac catalina as that is what it is registered as but I ordered a few bits from chucksnz and the guy there ran the serial numbers and it came back as a parisenne and yes he said it was a 261 originally.

my first question is what should the stainless strip on the rear quarter have on it, in the wedding pic the strip is just a plastic one that the last owner put on.

when I purchased the car it came with a boot load of chrome and stainless  (two car lots at a guess) and 8 stars my plan is to put it all back as it was originally are the star correct.

regards Jason

The Parisienne didnt have stars on the back guards, the stars belong to a 60 Laurentian. Not sure if any Parisiennes came to NZ in 1960 but they did go to Oz from Canada so its likely it was brought across the ditch at some stage. Photos of the tag on the firewall and the dash and engine bay would help clear things up. You could check to see how many holes for the stainless are on the inside back guards. Where are you located?

If you can't find the data tag on the firewall for us to decipher then your next option may be to purchase the vintage vehicle package from GM Canada. It will give you colour, options, build date etc.

Having said that I do remember a number of years ago they wouldn't deal with a guy in Sweden for his 65 Caprice. This seemed weird as I thought Visa, which he offered to pay with, was universal. Solution was for me to order the package and he sent me US cash.

Hey Gayne, I love that you call it the ditch! And how come none of natures killers in Aus made it across? That's always puzzled me.

I think those oz nasties were having too much of a good time in the sun and didnt notice NZ slipping out the back door and head south a couple of million years ago. Too far for them to swim now.

The 7739 part of the number is Parisienne and W9205505 is the 261 engine so you have got the right info from Chucks
