Yep, I bought that 1964 Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible

Points which you guys said I needed to address (thanks again for all the input):

The frame looked really good. I poked around underneath and could find no evidence of rot.

The VIN plate was worn (maybe some idiot sanded it when getting ready to paint the car?) but the rivets looked to me to be 100% original, and the VIN matched the title (for the 1964 Acadian Beaumont) as well as the GM of Canada Vintage Vehicle Service report which a prior owner had gotten from George Zapora.

I insisted they fix the front seats, and although the driver's seat still leans back too far (I suspect a worn out rubber stop, I'll check when I get the car in the garage, I decided not to drive it 70 miles to home on the freeway with crazy drivers going 90 mph, it will be delivered for ~$100 US in a few days) their upholstery guy reportedly spent a whole day installing new springs and foam.

I will get rid of the non-original Chevy valve covers and air cleaner, and there are a few more little things I have to do such as fixing driver's sun visor that won't stay up (needs bushing or whatever).

They made a few other minor repairs I wanted, and they accepted my offer of $20,000 US. So another Canadian Pontiac will continue to live a leisurely life, an occasional short cruise and the rest of the time tucked safely in its garage (I will get a soft cover for it too).

Oh, did I mention, it has Pontiac wire wheel covers - the Pontiac logo is faded but there on all 4 wheels:

Color me happy! biggrin

Glad your "saving it"      My 67 came with wire wheel covers and like the mirrors and valve cover had no Pontiac decals

Congrats. Now enjoy it while you wait for it to cool down enough to get that big block transplant finished.

Well congrats there Dave and I know for sure you will enjoy cruising in your car. My take on this car hobby is that you should have one that you can drive and another project that you are working at. In my opinion you are at the right place. I know last time we were in Florida I made contact but wasn't able to make it up your way but will try harder next time as we now have common cars. Enjoy!

An interesting footnote - for whatever reason, my car is shown (at the dealer I bought it from) as the example 1964 Acadian Beaumont on the Chevellestuff website:
