Droopy 1964 Beaumont sun visor


OK so it is beyond droopy, it just will not stay up (no evil ED jokes you guys!).

I have Googled the heck out of this and cannot seem to find a good answer. MAYBE I need new bushings

but it is unclear if that is truly the solution, and, if it is, how in the heck do I install them? Some information says I need to CAREFULLY SO I DON'T BREAK IT spread some part of the inside of the chrome piece that bolts to the windshield header, but again, information is unclear.

I am hoping someone here has dealt with and resolved this problem and will give me the straight skinny.

at the risk of over simplify, loosen screw at the end of visor and remove visor, then remove remaining pieces of bushing. install new bushings and replace visor. Then tighten screw being careful not to overtighten, if you do you could crack the housing that holds the visor. I hope this helps

J-B Weld would make putting them up and down as needed a bit difficult, me thinks wink

new nylon bushing should do the trick and follow RKY's instructions. The bushing kits are available and usually include the rubber tips for  the other end of the visor pin

Well, temporary success - I installed a new bushing and with some difficulty got it installed and tightened up fairly well, but then (what I should have done earlier, duh) I examined the bracket and compared it to the passenger side, and the drivers side bracket is broken. Phooey. Of course the convertible brackets cost more, but I did order a replacement, which hopefully will be a permanent fix.
