Convertible rear glass window retainer bracket position 65

hi all. I am installing a vert top with a glass rear window. I need to install the glass support rod attachments. As seen in the diagram it is not completely clear where the retainer is fitted on the rear seat back retainer. I think the cutout on the sheetmetal is a possible indicator on position but would like a bit more certanty.

If you have these rods fitted or have replaced a glass with plastic and these are still ther, can I ask if you could post a pic please?

thank you. And those rods weren't easy to find in australia. I was very lucky i met a bloke ata swapmeet who had just done a 66 and installed a plastic window in place of th original glass. I happened to have a set of rechromed 66 grill trim I could not seem to sell Which I traded him for.

I have the rods but they are not attached, so I'm not much help. They were not attached to the top that came with the car and were not a attached when the new top was put on.

Seems to work quite fine, been 16 years now. Often wondered just where they were supposed to attach and what purpose they really served.

was the top on the car or loose? Do you have these brackets attached to the rear of the seat panel? I have seen glass windows that sag in at the bottom which creases the area at the bottom due to weight but it might just be not very good tension? Do you have the little chrome brackets that attach to the glass?

What was left of the top was attached when we got the car but was not the original as it had a plastic rear window.
Replacement Robins top with glass window was put on.
I believe the rods are/ were attached to brackets on the seat back, not sure if there are brackets on the window panel.
The car is home again so I can try and get some pictures tonight.

The rods are still attached to my seat back panel , but no brackets on my top. Obviously discarded at a previous top change.

I took some photos of what's there to at least help you place that part.

They are attached with 2 sheetmetal screws.

Here they are on the inside with a tape measure for referance.

Drivers side measured from top down and from widest point in. Passenger side is the same.

I guess the point of them is to stop this little sag at the window

Now this is all on a Candian built 65 Impala, I'm  pretty sure it will be the same for the Canadian built, Ausie assembled Pontiac.

Hope this helps.

The interior is presently out of the car so easy enough to take pics.

If you need larger versions of the pictures I can email them.

I'll check my '64 parts convertible for any traces of these (although it is a plastic back window).
