How many different instrument cluster were there?

I can think of four:

- Base cluster

- Base cluster with speed warning

- Cluster with Fuel, Belts, and Lights options

- Cluster with Door Ajar (Taxi)

Plus of course the full rallaye gauges which we didn't get in Canada.  I've never seen a "Door Ajar" one in person, but have seen them referenced.

Are there any others?  I have all of these on hand (sorry, not for sale) except the Door Ajar.  Has anyone ever even seen the Door Ajar cluster?

Dave, I presume you're referring to 1969 B body clusters.   I've never heard of the Fuel, Belts & Lights options, or the Door Ajar.

You are missing the ralley cluster with speed warning.   I've seen one for a 1969, and here's one for a 1970:

Randy, I've never seen a Certified Speedo Ralley guage cluster, cool.   Also, I think it's a 70 as it's background is black.  69's had the blueish hue to them.   So Dave, yes we missed the Certified Speedometer cluster, here's a photo of one I had for a 70:

Wasn't there also a cluster that had 140 MPH sweep?

You would think that the Certified speedos that went into the B07 Police Cars would have had the 140 mph sweep. The U.S. Chevrolet B07 cars did, plus on the 69 & 70 models they had a triple cluster of gauges with an ammeter, oil pressure & temperature gauges. I don't know if the Canadian Chevrolets came with it, nor do I know if the Canadian Pontiac B07 cars came with it. I do know that later models did come with the 140 mph speedo with B07.

The extra warning lights on the Chevrolets in 69/70 came with the RPO ZQ2 Operator Convenience Group option and included such things as Headlight Delay, outside remote controlled rear-view mirror, clock; or in 69 there were Seat Belt, Low Fuel and Door Ajar warning lights included with ZJ9 Auxiliary Lighting (also shown in my 1970 Chevrolet Owners Manual, Canadian edition).

My 2+2, when born a Laurentian, had the Fuel/Lights/Belts cluster. I hadn't thought of speed warning in the US with gauges... would have likely tried to find one had I known they existed! I guess now I have a mission

I just googled them. The 1968 sales brochure lists an optional Tach and I was curious where it was mounted.

Probably not in dash but I've never seen one.

Thanks

Randy

So there are three (at least) versions of the US Rally cluster:

- Basic rally gauge cluster
- Rally cluster with speed warning
- Rally cluster certified

Plus the US/Canada ones:

- Basic
- Basic w/Speed warning
- Fuel/Lights/Belts
- Fuel/Lights/Belts w/ Speed Warning (see below)
- Door Ajar

Here's the parts list - it looks like there might be a Fuel/Lights/Belt plus speed warning, which I've never seen either.  I'm ignoring the Metric ones for now...

I also see no indication of the Door Ajar thing, maybe it was a light separate from the cluster?  Now I can't recall where I saw mention of it.

I know of a few 1970 Cdn Pontiac standard clusters with Certified Speedo, they came from Canadian Pontiac police cars.   I don't know if any US Pontiacs were used as police cars.

Here's the one I had again but sold it to a guy in upstate NY.  His speedo didn't work, but got it fixed so the Certified Speedo is his spare.

I found there's a lamp harness and so on in the parts book, but perhaps it's not in the cluster at all for the Door Ajar stuff. It's part of the Taxi equipment and might just be a light somewhere on the dash. So it likely isn't a different cluster, even though I still have no idea what it -does- look like.

In the 1958-61 Parts Catalog there is only one page for Special Vehicule Equipment with no description of the options.

Canadian Special Listing #616 is for Taxi-cab equipment.
