68 Beaumont convertible-how many left?

Says one of only 17 left? As an owner of one, does that mean there's only 15 more out there? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/nanaimo/1968-beaumont-convertible-for-sale-by-owner/1199898379?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

There's no way of knowing how many remain. I wonder where people get these numbers from? A hat?

According to production numbers elsewhere on this site, there were 392 convertibles built, not including the SD versions. So that would mean only 4% still exist, which to me would seem low as convertibles generally live a more pampered life. I guess I'm okay if I'm wrong as maybe it makes my car more valuable, ha ha, but still not sure?

Unless you own a '68 Beaumont convertible tracking satellite.

Maybe he's got an in with some person at a registry office or a cop and he has had a search done on how many are registered and active in Canada.

I've always wanted to find a way to do that for my 66 Grande just to know how many I might ever meet on the road.

Calvin - 1968 Beau. convertibles / my guess of those remaining, range between 10-15% of total production.
- '67 Sport Deluxe examples, have been pegged around a 10% survival rate / big blocks not strongly collected, during the 1970's gas crisis
- people tended to seek out the rag top body style, when they hit the used car market / small v8's, probably helped / 15% cars left, be max.

^^ All pure speculation #'s, at best / maybe 17 examples times 3 still [my rough ball-park] / regardless, very rare & few remain today !!

========================================================================================

canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t20435871/beaumont-production-numbers/

1968 Beaumont's - 14,420 produced
- priced between $2,748 to $3,359

VIN #
73567 Beaumont Custom 6 cyl Convertible (42 produced)

73667 Beaumont Custom 8 cyl Convertible ( 350 produced) confirmed 47 convertibles built with L73 250 HP 327 (models 13667 and 73667)

73867 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 8 cyl Convertible (65 produced) confirmed

Hi Larry,  Thanks for the information, I would have thought closer to 50 myself but as others noted it's near impossible to know for certain.

Searching kijiji and Facebook today I've came across seven 68 verts. If inwas to guess I'd say survival rate more like 30%.

Sorry for the late response but unfortunately I can't be of much assistance. My boot is installed with round snaps only, no clips. The male part of the snap is attached to the moulding and the female part to the boot, not original but seems to keep it attached well, though over the years a couple of snaps pulled through the boot.   If you want pics I can send some.

When I was a little kid growing up in Ancaster Heights, one of the neighbors towards the entrance to the subdivision had a brand new 68 Beaumont Custom convertible. If you remember Bernie Falone who played for and later owned the Hamilton Tiger Cats, well it was his wife that owned the car. It was Grotto Blue (68 version of Marina Blue) with a white top, 307 Powerglide (like most of them) plus wheel covers, whitewalls, radio and maybe p/s & p/b.  I don't know where that car ended up as I don't remember seeing it in the 1970s.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to guess there may be as many as 30 left, but again that is pure speculation. Throwing around guessed numbers is reckless because somebody always comes along and treats them as hard facts.
