Saving a 1961 Pontiac Bonneville covertible from the Crusher

Welcome here. I do some moderating on this site so I blew up your pictures for us all to see.

Cool car, in spite of it being a US model...!!! (Kidding of course, it is a great looking car)

As far as American Pontiacs go a 61 Bonneville tops my personal favourite list. I love those triple lens tail lights.

We had a 61 Strato Chief two door sedan in Midnight Blue and a family from Michigan would come to vacation on Georgian Bay just down the road from our cottage and they had a 61 Bonneville in midnight blue. Our Strato Chief  was definitely the poor pip squeek cousin to that car.

very cool ride!! Steel back buckets are hard to come by and likely worth the trip you made on their own!! Glad to see this car is going to get saved!!

Hi : No I do not have 8 lug wheels , but most likely I am not going with stock wheels might install air ride. Are your 8 lug wheels 1961 date coded correct ? or newer as there is a difference .

Thanks

Thanks : They sure are and have the cleanest lines ,but in my opinion a little under appreciated compared to pre 60 Models . But who knows in the future ?

HI Again : Judging by the Hubcap that has the Black Inner Circle they are most likely for 1965 -68 . Sorry not interested but will pass info on .

That Bonneville is a worthy project.
I'm sure it won't be easy but it sure would be nice to resurrect a beautiful car like that.
Good luck with the build!!!
And welcome to the site!!!

The floor pan has surprisingly less rust than the trunk.

I have 3 different ones for the 1961 US models. Greasy, but look intact.

How does $20 plus actual shipping cost sounds? ($20 Canadian, not US!)

Hello Countryboy

Those pictures bring back memories of my build and you have the same rotisserie. Makes it easy to position it just right for the work you are doing. You have taken on quite the project and with the progress that you have made so far is pretty damn good. Keep up the good work, but as I was told by a restorer don't rush it. Keep us posted as you have.

Luppy
