BBC engine ID

I just received my "402" bbc engine that was delivered all the way from Alberta. It was removed from a 72 gmc truck with only 30k miles. I got a little suspicious when the heads were orange and the block was blue. Removed the 402 valve cover to head casting 336781 date coded k11 73 . So I cleaned off the block casting to reveal 14015445 . It is a 454 not a 402. The stamping on the front of the block confused me TAZ501660. After a little research I think it is a truck engine 1980 built in Freemont California. Does this make sense?

It looks like new inside. Came with every accessory even the th400. I was a drop out so it will be a drop in. Just not sure in what. I have the other 454 that is getting all the bigger is better stuff.

Didn't you get a photo before you got the engine?  The big harmonic balancer is a clue it's a 454.

Did not get a lot of info. I got it from my cousin who lives in Stettler. He got it from a farm that the family owned a gm dealership. The truck went from the dealership to the farm and was a one owner when my cousin bought it . He assumed it was the original 402 because it still had the sticker on the valve cover. It was obviously replaced at some point.

Ok, sorry I can't help with that.

I have a GM pickup 402 that looks pretty much unmolested but the truck is too rough to fix, so it's gonna get parted out.

It comes out of a 1980 GMC 1 Ton 2wd Built in Fremont California built for GM Canada Z49 and it had a M40 TH400 behind it.

That makes it an RPO LE8 engine, rated at 230 Net HP through a catalytic converter and single exhaust with AIR and 360 ib-ft. This engine is a beast easily making over 300 Net HP and 450 lb-ft with a good intake, headers and duals. If you upgrade the heads and cam and  translate to pre-1972 HP and Torque ratings you get numbers too stupid to post. There are several guys I know on this forum running this engine dressed as 396's or 427's  most bored 30 to 60 over making 460 to 468 cubes. Original usage was in K30 one tons often duallys and Motorhomes.

IMG_8327.JPGIMG_8326.JPGIMG_8328.JPGI have the same block casting '79 in my 16' flatbottom jetboat. I can't really read the stamp pad as it's in a tight awkward spot in the boat.
