Saw this interesting CL post for a 69 Chevelle Malibu convertible, states it was a Canadian built car but was delivered with a Beaumont Grille new from the dealer? Anyone ever heard of this combination being a possible factory order back in the day?
My guess is that it needed to be repaired at some point and Beaumont parts/donor car was readily available, but again only my uneducated guess.
fuel: gas title status: clean transmission: automatic
Great Car. Numbers Matching 350 CI engine Turbo 350 Transmission. Great body and paint on this car was repainted in 2000 and also at that time received a new soft top. Original interior in excellent shape. Canadian Car 1 of 787. Canadian Documents. Delieverd new in 1969 with Beaumont grill from dealer. Drives excellent.
'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
Dealer mods would not show up on VVS documents. I had something similar happen with the one and only new car I ever bought. Back in 1989 I bought a Cavalier RS (2.8 V6, 5 speed). During the PDI a tech backed a truck into the front of the car damaging the hood and grille. I asked the dealer to replace the grille with a Z-24 grille (red bowtie instead of an ugly gold one). They agreed. I also asked for the Z24 hood (with the "power bulge") but I they wouldn't as it was more expensive than the stocker. So, something similar could have happened with this Chevelle or perhaps the owner just liked the Beaumont front end better. Maybe the Chevelle was in stock and a Beaumont convertible was going to be a 6 week special order.
I discussed this at breakfast this morning with a couple of guys who know Chevelles and Beaumonts. The Beaumont grille is not a bolt in. You either have to change the header panel or do some cutting they tell me.
As the saying went on Tool Time, "I don't think so, Tim."

Couldn't you just change the whole front clip? ie everything in front of the firewall?

That is correct Carl it is not a bolt on. The header panel needs to be changed and the chevelle fenders need to be modified to accept the grill corners . Our change the front fenders to beaumont ones. Also the the hood release has to be changed.

I'm sure that would work fine but not the Beaumont grille with the Chevelle fenders as mentioned by Ian in his post above this.
