power brakes.

hello members. i have a 1960 stratochief 2 door post. i am looking to update the brake system to power brakes..as we all know that single line master cylinder just doesn't cut it.  Anybody know what other model that has power brakes will fit..or a inexpensive solution. also in need of parts cosmetics etc. thank you in advance ..jorgePont3.jpg

Cool car, welcome to Canadian Poncho.

I was hoping someone with 1960 experience would have an answer for you.

Numerous people make replacements for the older cars.

Try www.gpsbrakes.com for a number of booster, dual masters combos that will fit your car ( might have to search for Chev Biscayne )

I bought a booster from them to convert a 66 Mustang from manual to power ...already had done the dual changeover. They were very knowledgeable, quick and economical.

They are in Buffalo, NY

All most forgot to say welcome aboard.

I run boosters on my 60s. The later model (64 I think) booster and master bolt on but you will have to change the adjusting rod under the dash.

Your original brakes.....with a stock 59-60 or 61 booster added will be more than adequate.....for normal driving....The front drum swept area is HUGE....and if all components are in good working condition .....that will prolly be the simplest and most cost effective bolt on upgrade.

All of the steel and rubber (flexible) brake lines should be replaced if there are ANY signs of rust......There is really no need for a split master....if the rest of the system is in good condition.......including the emergency brake.
