I have always loved the look of this car. The car recently came up for sale and a friend of mine purchased it. He called me to ask a few questions about the car and told him I have known about the car for quite a while and have wanted to buy the car so he agreed to sell it to me. I am now the happy new owner.

One of the owners is a member on this site. I wanted to buy it then but I did not have enough money at the time and ended up buying another car. I have never really stopped thinking about this Beaumont and I am glad to finally own it.

I have always liked the 1968 Beaumont and this is not my first one I had a 68 Custom for 6 years until 3 years ago. It was the same exterior and interior color as this one, but was not an SD which I really wanted.

I also owned a 1968 SD back in the 80`s, it was a turquoise car with parchment interior. I sold it to a good friend who lived in Red Deer. He did some brake work and ended up running into a tree so it had a bit of front end damage, he then installed a dual carb tunnel ram on the engine. No luck again, he parked it beside his house with no hood and someone stole the tunnel ram set-up. He ended up selling the car to someone in BC, I think it was in the Kelowna area. Maybe someone on this site knows what ever happened to the car.

This car originally came with front bumper guards from the factory which are not on the car now. It never came with the rear guards.

I would like to find a nice set of front and rear guards to install on the car and I would also like to do a few upgrades like installing a factory tilt steering column and a factory AM/FM radio into the car.

If you have any of these parts and are willing to sell them or know anyone who does please contact me. Thanks

Congrats on a nice, rare find! I love your avatar BTW (69 Pace Car & silver SS sport stripe car). 1968 was the first year for AM/FM & tilt in Beaumonts & Canadian-built Chevelles (plus a/c domestically in the A-bodies).

How did I miss this thread back in 2017? The colour of your Beaumont was in my view a rare & cool colour. I do remember 3 cars from back in the day in that colour: a '68 Biscayne 307, a '68 Malibu sport coupe 307, and an Impala sport coupe with a six(!). Never saw another until 1991 when I saw a Malibu convertible in Barrie & a Bel Air sedan in Louisiana. Today via the Internet I have seen more examples, but it still is kinda obscure. Although in general I would shun a vinyl top, they look great on that body style. Consider wiping baby oil on the top (seriously). It will prevent rust pinholes and it will keep the vinyl supple (just wipe up the excess).

Thanks for the tip on the vinyl top. I like the look of the vinyl top on the car. My 68 Custom had the trim for vinyl but it never had the vinyl top. and thanks Bob, I am sure it was Daryl that owned your car when he lived in Manitoba.

I was hoping he would get in touch with me about the guards and any other information he has on the car.

Here are 3 pictures of the car before Daryl owned it. It was in the Drumheller area in Alberta as that is where the previous owner lived. He was selling about 10 cars out of his collection and this was one of them. The car has the guards on it then.

He had quite a few cars scattered in garages all around Drumheller. Found a picture of my 68 Custom from the 2014 Bowness car show.
