Your pic, extra pin is by the G , all else is the same. Not sure why- and I just removed this from the 63 convertible dash, which I still have so Im sure what this is. Weird George.
This pin side is the same as the 65 above? It might work in a 65, unless as you pointed out, the pot metal differences would keep it from fitting. The 63 bezel is very deep, youd have to use the whole thing in a 65.

The parts book says the extra pin is used on cars with a/c. I'm betting you could use it on any 63-64 full size and likely they will have changed up the replacement switch eventually that they would all be 9 pin.
It's not the actual Canadian Pontiac Facebook group. It's a group called the Canadian Pontiac. If you search that on Facebook it should come up for you (I hope!)

Colin is moderator? The Canadian Pontiac is the one I found, sounds like the right one.

Hooked up with the fellow on FB, his ignition switch works like normal except a previous owner installed a starter button direct to the starter. I suggested he check out the wiring, his car is largely stock except for HEI. He is a mechanic and has the 1961 shop manual and 1964 supplement.

That switch looks very much like my 66 Biscayne switch...... It has the bulb mount for a light but not available for a Biscayne/Belair, Caprice/Impala only. Might be worth a look in the parts book, I can check the # on back of the switch if you need.
Let me know....
It could be the bezel on the switch, the 63 is very deep into the switch, unlike my older switch bezels on a 59 or 62.
