im interested in buying a1966 beaumont sd convertible but the frame is rotted can i use achevelle frame or beaumont and does it have to be a convertible thank you gary
i believe it has to be a vert frame (boxed)or an el camino (its boxed...rear rail might have to be shortened)....chevelle vert is the same.....if i'm wrong
other members will correct me....but the frame has to be boxed for the strength....Bob...oh... welcome to the site

welcome Gary, as said above a chevelle frame will work but it has to be a box one. Elky frames work but need to be shorten by 3.25" at the rear. Very hard to find box frames any good up here they have to come from the deep south. I buy them when I see them and travel down to pick them up. Where are you from and let us know about your 66 find. (engine. tranny colour)
The measurements are all the same for 64 thru 67 so they can be interchanged. Two small caviots: 64 does not have a dimple in the front cross member to facilitate a starter change if you install a big block, the upper rear spring perches on a 67 are slightly smaller. If you use a 67 frame you have to be sure to use 67 springs which are tapered at both the top and bottom.
I shortened a 66 Elky frame from Georgia and put it under my 64 SD vert.
Welcome aboard Gary. This is a good example of the type of info available thru this site. Should you follow thru with the purchase there is lots of help available here.
