Installing New Seat Buns

Has anyone done this themselves? I just finished disassembly of the drivers seat bottom and I'll post some pictures later. Right now I'm wondering about materials. The factory used foam buns, batting and burlap in combination (foam over batting over burlap). I've seen a YouTube video where they discard the burlap but still use batting under the foam. PUI Interiors has a short video up that seems to suggest foam only.

I've got PUI buns but they came with nothing in the way of instructions and I want to make sure I do this right.

Here's a before picture of the seat. The foam was pretty bad, disintegrating in places.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Brian

I've seen the foam wrapped in the that white fibre batting (forget the name of it). It is readily available at fabric/upholstery shops.

Also, I like my buns warm with butter.blankstare

Dont put the foam right ontop of the springs, the foam will just eventually cut right thru and degrade rubbing on the springs,  the burlap was there to protect and strengthen the spring surface.  Burlap is not the best to use.   I have even taken super strong vinyl and hogring it tight to the springs just like the burlap,   it will last longer than burlap and also helps to stiffen the spring surface.  then proceed as usual with either a foam form fit bun or the cotton batting as used on a rear seat.

As stated by Dave, burlap isn't the best but these cars aren't driven everyday and parked outside so should last a long while. I put the rods(stainless steel) back in mine as it also helps spread the load and think the hog rings will pull out of the material eventually. More info on pg 12 of my build thread

Not sure if you have noticed but this thread is almost 4 years old and the member who started it has a deleted status. No need to hold your breath for a reply on it.
