Barn find 59 Parisienne 2 door hardtop

Doesn't look bad at all.......for a 59 year old Canadian car....in Quebec.

I'd get on that rust real quick......with a good stiff wire brush and scraper.....a dose of Rust Mort......and a couple of coats (brush on) of Rustoleum red oxide.

Have you had a chance to lift the carpet yet?........It will prolly need the same treatment....in some areas

Quick update:

The car is now at the shop to get some floor patches, a motor dropped in it and general mechanical overhaul to get it going.

We actually had a taste of "real" winter last year.........reasonable accumulations of snow....and below freezing temps for about a month......and I quite enjoyed it......getting to see the sun...when it wasn't snowing...

new top.jpg This year ...nothing to speak of........It's currently 50 degrees.......and I'm going outside to see if I can shovel some of the rain we had on Saturday...

David has a horseshoe you know where. He found this car for a really good price. Found a good drivetrain, got those new tires for free, it goes on and on.smile Reminds me of the screaming deal he got on the last car he owned:

Haha! Yeah, I guess I can dig up some lucky finds!..

One of my good friends had such a luck last weekend when he dug out of a basement in downtown Montreal a very nice and solid 1950 Pontiac 2 door that had been forgotten there for the last 25 years. I will tell him to join and show his project.

Looking good!  You have that small block looking like the car was born with it!

I have to say I really enjoy all your updates.  Thanks for making my (crazy) busy winter just a little more pleasant! smile

Thanks a lot for the good words, guys!

Not much visible progress has been made in the last couple of weeks. The gas tank and radiator have been rebuilt and reinstalled, worked on the many, many little electrical bugs here and there, and now almost everything works as it should.

We are running into a couple of glitches right now that we are trying to solve.

The shifter hookup from the column is not a direct fit with this later aluminium powerglide, so we will have to figure out a way to make this work.

Also, today, we tried to have the ignition to make a spark, but it does not... motor cranks but no spark. The modern HEI distributor unit has been checked and its components seem fine, grounds are ok, wiring and plugs are new,,, still, no spark. This is a bit of a mistery for now!
