Ah, simpler times. Were you getting cited, or was the officer checking out your ride so he knew who he was lining up against when he came off shift?

Citation for the right miss-aligned headlamp, rest of the hot rod is OK!...

I remember getting an "unnecessary noise" fine of $53.50 back in 1986 for squealing my tires when turning a corner. Today the car would be put on a trailer and impounded and you'd get a huge fine for "stunt driving"

I remember getting pulled over in downtown Windsor in the late 60's while cruising

the area in my 63 Chevy SS. I was being ticketed for a burned out headlight.

While the officer was writing the ticket, I got out of the car and gave the seal beam

a good whack with my hand......the light came on.

The officer wasn't happy as he ripped up the ticket  and asked why I didn't whack

the light before he started writing the ticket.

I said it probably wouldn't have worked then.

Indeed the police have no sense of accommodation any more, in many respects too many soccer mom law makers as well.

Back in 75, I knew a guy, who pulled out of the Pontiac Dealership on a snowy night and a guy driving a work van took exception and got a little raged, he was all over the rear honking etc, then at the next light he pulled in front and whipped open his door. As the driver was a young and somewhat cocky 17 year old he hit the gas and took the door right off and high-tailed it home.  In about an hour there was a knock at the door and of course the police officer wanted to speak to the young driver. It didn't take long for him to make up his mind on what to do, he suggested to the driver's father that he take away driving privileges for a week or so and gave the young driver a stern talking too. Imagine pulling that off today !! disbelief

Simpler times indeed for more things than squealing tires ,music too loud, exhaust too loud etc..If i DID 1/10TH of the things I did in the 70's I'd be a regular on the front page of the newspaper and MSN. LOL.We were in the roller rink parking lot in the early 80's and my buddy Dave( R.I.P. buddy) was doing a brake stand when the cops pulled up-he blew up both tires while the police were standing there laughing. All they did was shake their heads and drive away.Good times-better times.Young and dumb but it was fun for sure.

Luv that Avatar George!! Should be a poster on the shop wall! Back in the early 80's cops were still cool! I had my 57 on the road(3 pedal) and had fallen off a roof and broke my ankle,so I couldn't drive. My bud at the time had his jaw broke so it was wired shut. I couldn't drive and he couldn't talk. Sooo one night we decide to take out the chevy...but he wants to have some fun so we unbolt the exhaust (lived in the tulies),cruising around with open headers!!! Next thing I know hes heading downtown, cops caught up to us in langford. We weren't hard to find!!! Cop gets to the window and asks what the $%$$#@ are you guys doing...waiting for Kenny to answer and he just mumbles. Had to step in and told him it's my car,he can't talk and I can't drive. Officer then asks...why the he## are u driving around with no exhaust?!! I said hes just showing off. Got a smile and was told to take the car straight home!!!! Don't think the cops have that sense of humor anymore!!!!!!
