How to ship a quarter panel?

I need rear quarters, and if I find them, they won't be local.  But most sellers list such large stuff as "local pickup only" because, let's face it, shipping large stuff is a hassle.

I've heard that FedEx will actually pick up and CRATE your item for you, and read on another forum of a user doing that for a quarter panel, but I wonder what the cost is like?

I also read that shipping my Greyhound works pretty well.  But how do you get it crated?  Or would you throw a quarter panel on a bus with no crate?

Thanks
Dave

I had a 66 Pontiac hood shipped by friends in New Brunswick .

They packed /wrapped it in cardboard and double wrapped the corners .

It arrived w/o a scratch .

I would ship on bus "only "wrapped in cardboard...   99% of the sheetmetal we buy at work (Ford GM) comes in cardboard containers

I just shipped a trunk lid a few weeks ago with Greyhound from BC to Ontario to a member there. Didnt wrap it at all and he said it arrived in great shape.

Wow. If it is that easy and safe going Greyhound, I would wrap this quarter panel I have in plastic, with some supports, and bus it for my $800 asking price. Just putting it out there for anyone interested.

GTODrive, if you're willing to ship that thing I'm willing to receive it, so consider it sold. If you can put it on the bus I'll make the drive into Seattle to grab it from the depot! You can email me at davepl@davepl.com to arrange payment, etc...

82" is the max. Shipping from Michigan to Vancouver is $212. Quarter measures 95". Maybe they would make an exception!?

Yeah they may have an oversize charge for it. Trunk lid was $195 from BC to Ontario.

There's always the Canadian Poncho relay system for shipping big stuff, if it's not time sensitive! :)
