Here's a look at the original style exhaust extensions, these were used on GTO/GT/Grand Am and any car with N10 duals, also used on Hurst Olds in 73.

Better photo of tail pipe extensions, you can see the intricate bends a little better plus they exit at an angel towards outside of car and fit under indents in rear bumper.

I have a matching engine car and the seats were originally vinyl, My car is a GTO, but unable to explain the SC emblems on door panels

Just wondering about this 73 Pontiac GTO I purchased last summer, VIN 2F37T315#####/ It has, 400 cu in. 4sp standard, power windows, rally gauges and Rally wheels, front and rear sway bars, GTO badging on grill but not on door panels interior. Any help on this appreciated

Good to hear you have a W62 car, a GTO !

I think you may be reading the documents incorrectly.

There were actually 3,761 Sport Coupes made, that is the model - F37. GTO is not a model rather an option so 231 of those Sport Coupes had the GTO option, W62, 106 Sport Coupes had M20 and some if not all could have been GTO optioned cars. 395 Sport Coupes had the 400 L78 engine and because we have no other information on the 455 we can assume that 231 or less GTO's had the L78. I would say that statistically based on the information we have been provided that the number of 4 speed 1973 GTO's produced in Oshawa is a least 7 and no more than 106, George sometimes shows this as Less than 107 M20 optioned GTO`s

So in summary you have one of those 231 Canadian GTO optioned (W62)  LeMans Sport Coupes (F37).

What date was your car built and what dealer did it ship to?

Car was built May 29, 1973 and shipped to Country Pontiac Buick in Surrey, BC

That's getting to be a late build car, so given that the 73 is a one year only design I suppose it is possible that the supply of GTO name plates for the doors were exhausted. The car is afterall a LeMans Sport Coupe, with the GTO option pack.

Makes sense that it is a BC car with all that pristine body work and trim still on it.

The above stats have got to be for U.S. production. I remember when the '73 GTOs came out in the fall of '72 but remember them being very scarce and pretty much as hard to come across as the Loch Ness Monster. When I worked in Mississauga back in 1986 I remember seeing a Florentine Red (med red metallic) '73 GTO sport coupe with faded original paint, black beltline stripes flanked with red pinstripes, black buckets with a console, plus GTO 455 C.I.D. decals on the front fenders. It was rusty and I was thinking that somebody should save it. Way back then you could still get a lot of new parts through the dealer.

Ray's (73SC) Lemans looks really great with those factory style exhaust tips. They are a detail often missed by people who restore them. The tips look similar to the Trans Am tips.

As for door panels, I don't have the 1973 knowledge that Ray has, but I do remember for 1972 the GTO became an option on any closed 2-door Lemans body style & trim level (except for the Luxury Lemans). It marked the return of the 2-door "post" body style on a GTO for the 1st time since 1967. Anyway on a 2-door post they only came with low-level interior with bench seats and as I recall, Lemans badges on the door panels.

Yes but a buddy of mine has a 73 also and has the GTO badging on the door panels. Like Ray said possibly nearing end of production year they ran out of the door badges and left the Sport Coupe badging

The data posted is 100% USA data, not sure that GTO site where the data comes from even lists Oshawa as a plant where GTO's are built....so typical of our cousins south of the border.  In fairness though the Canadian data would hardly be relevant to the users of that site.

Nonetheless we can likely add 231 F37's to those numbers. I've never seen a D37 GTO documented by George so I have no idea how many of those were produced in Oshawa. The relationship from the USA data would suggest another 26 cars for total Canadian production of W62 cars at 257.

No, built all over the USA, Pontiac, Freemount, Framinham, Atlanta, Arlington and Baltimore. remember it was an option on LeMans and LeMans Sport so anywhere the LeMans was built so could a GTO be made. There was really nothing special about the package, except decals all other equipment was available in the LeMans lineup. I've seen station wagons with NASA hoods and 4 on the floor, D37 Colonnade LeMans with a 455, even a Luxury LeMans with a 4 speed 400.

Oh Ok, where was I reading on another Pontiac site and said for 1970 and 73, all GTO's came out of Oshawa? I'll try and find that site

Gotta be a good feeling to open up the GMVVS envelope and find out the car is so special. Sometimes life does have pleasant surprises. BTW it's one sharp looking machine.

1970 and 1973 were the only years GTO was built in Canada but not exclusively. Also of note 1970 was the first year that Tempest and LeMans were built and sold in the main dealer network in Canada. Up until then the Beaumont was the A Body offering built in Canada and sold through Pontiac Dealers in Canada.

Yes it was, wondering if it's a dud or a dude. Alright to have documentation if time comes to sell, matching engine numbers was nice

You could always buy US models in Canada but they had to be specially ordered and they were very expensive. The first American Pontiac Pontiac you could buy off the lot at normal prices was the 67 Firebird. It was followed by both the Grand Prix and the GTO in 1969. In 1970 they started adding more and more US models and specific Canadian models started disappearing.
