65 parisienne colour combinations

I am in the painting stage of a frame off restoration on my 65 parisienne convertible.

The paint is Regal Red and the interior is parchment.

I am not sure on the colour of the top.

I have looked for GM colour combinations on line but haven't found what i need.

Dose anyone know if GM used a white top or did they use black

I am worried the white top may be too white for the parchment interior.

There would have been both options. If you want it back to factory then you need to get the GM documents. I have a white top on my 68 and found out it was originally black. I like the white. Not too much white with black dash and carpet which I'm pretty sure yours would be the same. Plus no one sees the top when it's down anyway. But it all comes down to what you like.

The code for the original top colour may be on your data plate. If not GMVVS docs will show it.

I want to have a white top but worried it wont go with the off white interior
Thanks

Here's the wording out of the 65 Sales Fact Book ( CDN )

Interiors of both the Custom Sport convertible and the Sport Coupe are handsomely tailored in luxurious leather-grain vinyl. There is a choice of 7 interior colours: Fawn,Red, Gunmetal,Plum, Slate,Parchment and Black. In the Sport Coupe a special Ponchchartrain cloth and vinyl interior is available in Fawn or Gunmetal. Convertible tops are in Black, White, Light Blue and Beige.

Unfortunately there isn't a chart showing which exterior colours they matched up to which interior colours and then to convertible top colour.

I am betting that a white or black top came on any colour.

I know I've seen a white top on a white interior 65 Custom Sport convert way back when (the 70's) which I bet would have still been the original top.

if its any help , but my 69  442 convertible ( Red Car ) had a White top with Parchment interior. Remember that the convertible boot  always matched the interior. A lot of people thought it should match the top. And after selling convertible tops for 30 years the correct colour white is  known as  GM White or somrtimes 'Old Gm White"

thanks NOS
that's what I wanted to know
So GM used a white top with parchment interior
I was concerned the white top might make the interior look dirty
Your absolutely right the boot has to match the interior

The GM white you referred to is it pure white

Go onto the site www.hydroe.com and it will show the white.
They also make sell quality tops. I'm ordering one for my 64 Beaumont. My installer stressed that he prefers the Kee brand for fit and workability.

Do some research into the style of the plastic back window. The 64s and maybe 65s came with a back window that the plastic goes down below the rear body line. Later years had a top coloured vinyl piece, known as a valance, between the body and the bottom of the window. Maybe not original to 65 but a better idea for longevity. Google pics of mid to late 60s GM convertibles to help understand what I'm talking about.

all 65-70 GM 'B' bodies came from the factory with rear glass window. I believe 65 & 66 cars had a zip out glass. 67 up they elimitated the zipper. KEE Auto Top offers this option. You should consider replacing the top pads and may be the well liner at the same time ?.   xxxxxxxx              good luck!  KEE is an excellent choice

Dale @ NOS

GM WHITE is not a brite white like you would have seen on  a 90's Mustang GT's. maybe a shade or two off

In those years the GM white top was actually Ivory colored, a creamy gray-beige. But it doesn't have that pearl gold tinge you see in the parchment interiors. The great majority of red convertibles with red or parchement interiors had white-Ivory tops. You could order a black top but the Ivory top was the default top for those combos. The only time I've seen red convertibles with black tops was on cars that had black interiors.

You did, ....and maybe it was mine, since it originally had a white top (code 10 I think) with parchment interior and ermine white paint.  I thought it was too much white so changed it to black to match dash and carpet.

Pont.pngRag.pngAs always, Dale (NOS) has given you some excellent advice. I own a '64 Custom Sport which came from the factory with a Sunfire Red exterior, parchment interior, a white top and a white boot. Like you, I have no interest in numbers matching or stock details. I recently redid my Pontiac. The exterior is Ford red candy metallic tinted clearcoat. The new interior from NOS is parchment. My new top is Old GM white. The boot is also Old GM white. I strongly believe that you would be extremely pleased with the Old GM White which is not a brilliant white. This color is a perfect match for my parchment interior. I fully realize that you are talking about a '65 Parisienne. However, I have included a couple of pictures to prove that a red car with a white interior, a white top, and a white boot looks absolutely fantastic. Good luck.

I am so glad and happy that I joined this site.
You guys are so helpful
The top is going to be white for sure
Every thing will be new, pads well and glass window
The car is completely apart body on rotisserie about ready for paint
Frame is in for powder coat
Roof rails are blasted and painted
Love the pictures of the 64
If I can find Custom Sport emblems ill be real happy
Thanks

Check out this site www.convertibletopguys.com/ They have convertible tops for '65 Parisiennes with zippered and non zippered rear glass windows. I purchased my '64 CS top from them. I opted for the package deal. The two piece top in Old GM white fits perfectly. As you will note, the kits include the following:

Pair of Hold Down Cables (CAG104 or CAG103)
Pair of New Tack Strips (TS)
Pads (CTTP65)
Trimmer Contact Cement
1965-70 GM Installation Manual

If you scroll through this site, you will find everything for convertibles including the hoses, motors, cylinders, etc.
