Who can restore a console plate?

Presuming no one has an NOS four speed 1969 console plate they're eager to sell, I need to restore mine... looks like one too many power shifts from the previous owner).  Does this look damage that your average chrome plater could restore or is this pot metal special?  It's off at Just Dashes and they said they can't repair this type of thing.

Yowsa... found a guy who's been sitting on a NOS one for 20 years and doesn't want to sell it. No mention of price yet, but it's nice...  does it matter if ALL my kids go to college?

Dave if your patient and watch out for a nice complete console , you may be able to find one that will yield a better plate than yours. I've done this myself over the years and have been able to take all of the best parts from numerous 4 spd consoles obtained over the years , and make some nice ones for my self. You can then sell off the other parts either as driver quality whole console or simply part them out .

A few years back , I decided to go in a different direction , and started selling off some 4 spd related parts . I ended up selling one of the nicer ones for over $1700 a few years back . That gives you an idea of the rarity of some of these parts

Indeed. Being a four speed car, the fact this car is so complete and unmolested is important. But this part, while there, was rough. So I bought the NOS piece (subject to a few pics to confirm condition).

I'm going to have a lot of money in this crazy console. Just Dashes wants $4K for the dash and console, and so assume half of that is the console. Then add in the shifter boot ($200) and the tunnel boot ($200) and the slider ($150) and the console plate ($850) and you're at about $3500 for just the console.

But, as I remind myself, I like to spend my money in inverse proportion to how much you see and interact with a piece, so I tend to blow the budget on the cockpit area.

Howmac, do you still have much for console stuff? I've heard legends of a local (Seattle) Muncie guru who literally has his entire HOUSE full of four speed parts but I think it's all mechanical. That's going to be one heck of an estate sale.

I've thought of trying to start acquiring Impala console stuff and doing what you describe (making 3 good ones out out 5 cores, etc). But wouldn't want to compete   I think I'll do rally dashes instead!

Minor panic - we agreed on it but then it wasn't where he thought it was, so he's looking for it. Stay tuned!

He found it! Here are a bunch of pics. It shouldn't require a login (that can't be skipped at least):
