I can't believe it either. Maybe start a new thread in the Pontiac parts for sale.

I will give it a try.

Ya those things look like they are great quality and i certainly appreciate the work involved to reproduce them.  If they were cheaper, there would be way more interest for sure.  Most restoration engine decals range in the 5-10 dollars each range.  But i understand completely, given the low volume and intial tooling costs.

I would take a couple of the side decals(filter instucitons)  but no use for the pontiac one.  But the price would have to be about 10$ per decal based on what other guys have tooled up and sold on this site over the last 5 or so years.

I was expecting such a response.

Just to be clear for everyone, and just so it's on the record. I am asking 40$ including shipping to anywhere you are in a padded enveloppe for the pair of decals. That's roughly 17$ a sticker for a unique, handmade perfectly reproduced decal on a high quality tranfer paper. Just so it's out there, the project cost me 200$ for the batch, not counting the back and forth corrections, color tweaking time, the trips to the guy who made them, finding and purchasing price of the original Air Cleaner that I used as a model, etc. That's easily 20$ each decal, they cost me, so I am actually losing money on each of them, making these available for everyone. I was checking for the interest of members here before I set a price... If there had been interest, I could have made another batch and lower the price for everyone, even for the first guys that called dibs.

So the price is not the reason for the low interest.

As for the price itself, I have come to realize that most people seem to be perfectly content with cheap chinese parts and "close-enough" barely useable repro stuff as long as it doesn't cost much. Not for me. When I get something done, I do it right, and go all the way to make it so, knowing it might have a higher initial cost, but after 20 years of restoring cars, I have understood that it pays in the long run. Not saying this is your case, beaumontguru, but it's just a general opinion I have of the car scene in North America and your post reminded me of this.

By the way, you say other people have made decals available for 10$ on this site in the past... Funny enough, I just bought 3 decals from another member here, at 25$ each! And knowing what these cost to do, I am super happy with the purchase! Here; https://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t62206737/window-decals/

Sorry for the long post.

David,

I know the work involved in doing this kind of

thing (having been a graphic designer in my previous life).

I bought a pair of valve cover decals that cost me $12.00 U.S., about 5 years ago.

....and the quality was okay, but had some printing flaws.

With shipping and Canadian money exchange, they came to my door costing me $26.00 Canadian.

Last night I ordered a $19.95 (U.S.) T-shirt, shipped from Canada............final cost to the house was $39.50 Canadian.

Forty dollars for two decals may sound like a lot to some (that's $20.00 Canadian each)

but with the shipping being included and being in Canadian funds, I think it's not unreasonable.

Hardly a amount to quibble about, considering this is a very low production run, and not mass produced.

You're the only one who took the trouble to make them, and to make them perfectly like the originals.

If there are no more being made,

I'll have the satisfaction to know I will be one of the few to have new decals on my air cleaner.

Thanks for all the time and work you put into this, I'm looking forward to receiving them shortly.

-G

Glad you like them!

i have mostly documented 1959 and 1960 cars and less so 1961-63, but on the 59-60 units I saw with these decals, it seemed quite evident to me that the placement on the air cleaner itself was pretty random, and I might even say rather sloppy. On the air cleaner I used as a model for the repro, the decals are even slapped on one over the other!.. so any correct placement will be, in my opinion, better than factory!

Well, I have reached an agreement with the guy who does the printing of these, and I have ordered another batch. I will have them pretty soon, and can lower the price to 35$ shipped. For those who had already got them at 40$, I can issue a 5$ refund if you send my your PayPal address. Thanks!

One of our members here that had bought a set of decals decided that instead of wanting a refund, I should donate the 5$ to support the forum, which I did via PayPal right away (Todd, you should see it in your PayPal).

This really is a great group of guys! Long live Canadian Poncho!

Ok, the new batch is here. PM me for sets of these. Again, they are now 35$ shipping included, so I will not collect more $$ and donate 5$.. Just 35$. But I encourage you to donate to the site if you wish, it's always a good idea.

It's the little details like those decals that make a car stand out from others.
