1964 Beaumont

I had a bad thing happen to me yesterday. I recently purchased this car which had been sitting for several years. I got it on the road and had problems with the hood latch sticking on me. I had intended to lubricate it but was in a hurry yesterday. I closed the hood after doing what I needed to do under the hood. Never thinking about the latch and jumped in the car to head out onto the QEW. I had just merged into the righthand lane when I noticed the hood start to flutter and before I knew it the hood flies straight up and I can't see a damn thing. I looked to my right and the lane seemed to be open so I edged the car over towards the retaining wall. I made I with no problems and jumped out and tried to wrestle the hood off of the remaining hinge but to know avail. I was able to call a buddy to come and help and by the time we removed the hood we both saw it was toast. The good thing was is that it didn't hit the windshield but the I am in need of a new hood if any body knows of one. thanks

How are the hinges? If you need and Kevin doesn't have then I think I do. BTW present plans are to go through NFalls next Monday. Let me know.

The hinges are shot as well. one tore off completely and one has the bolt holes 5 times bigger than they should be. So I will need hinges. Do you know if any later model cars would have used the same hinge? I was wondering if I could get them through a wreckers or a pick and pay? Can you tell me what color the hood is?

Not sure what other models of hood and hinges interchange with 64 Beaumont/Chevelle. Do know that 65 is different. Right Arcadian?

Same thing happened to my mom when she was driving the 69 Strato Chief back in the day. The hood flew up when she went over a set of train tracks. Hinges were never the same after that... Had to use a fence picket to hold the hood up! Glad to hear you made it safely to the side of the road!

I have lots of 65 hinges but they are not the same as 64

The 50 to 65 GM interchange manual shows the 64 hood as a stand alone. ie Buick Special, F85, Tempest don't work.
Manual doesn't show hinges.

Pretty sure I have a set or two of 64 hinges if you can't find any out there. Too bad I just shipped a couple days ago.
