I took in the annual Cobourg Lake side car show with my 1974 Chev Caprice Estate wagon. Bit of a heat wave but that is ok because there was plenty of shady areas to be had. Lots of nice cars and good folks to talk cars to. Check out the rides. Cheers.

I was right next to 64 Valiant with twin carbs. & split exhaust!!! Next to 64 White Chrysler New Yorker in picture, can see red Impala next to it. Didn't take the wagon as not appropriate for this show, but did see that58 Impala radical custom & still wondering why it was there as ad stated NO MODIFIED vehicles?????

Thanks George. I've been at this show many times ... my old home town.

I didn't see my buddy Doug Greer's Cord in your pictures ... he must not of brought it.

That 59 green for door is a local east Toronto car. Alice and Keith bought it from Bob years ago.

The 1935 Pierce Arrow is the one for me even though it is in the twilight of the marque's history and restructuring. That '35 would sell for around $5,000 or more which with inflation is $92,000 today which is Cadillac, Mercedes and BMW territory.

At its height these cars, powered by massive 13.5 litre (824 CID) engines sold for $8,000 to $10,000 the equivalent of around $200,000 to 250,000 today. The Car of Royalty, made in Buffalo New York.  I'll take one.

I spent a lot of time talking to the owner of that amazing automobile. The car was perfect in every way.

Thanks for including it in your montage George, exemplary in every way. For those who have never seen one in person the attention to detail and quality in craftsmanship is beyond extraordinary.

I noticed on the connie kit wheel cover of that highly customized 1958 Chev that there is a 58 Edsel two door hardtop. In the movie "American Graffiti", the five main star cars were the 32 Ford coupe hot rod, the 1955 Chev 150 coupe hot rod, the 1958 Impala mild custom, the 1950 Mercury low rider and the 1958 Edsel four door hardtop stocker. In this mural on the 58 Chev custom the Edsel is now magically a two door hardtop and not a four door hardtop. Changing American Graffiti history because of "more door hate". Never the less who ever did the painting did an amazing job, they just messed up history. Cheers.

Hey BJ, its only in the last 10 years that I have gained an appreciation of these pre-war high end cars, all pre-war cars actually. My dad would tell me about Pierce Arrows, Cords and Duesenbergs, Auburns and such and I just would say pass me the Hot Rod magazine or road test on the 70 GTO. He bought me a model of a Duesenberg once and we built it together but it was lost on me. Of course I've come to learn that my Dad was usually right on most things.

Of course the phrase we use to describe something over the top, "That's a Duesey" originated from the Duesenberg automobile.

Yes, cars from that era exude nothing but class, style and grace. I have been a fan of the look since a child and a fan of the history for over thirty years of this era.
