1975 Parisienne 2 door 455 Triple Black

I am going today to pick up a 75 Parisienne Brougham 2 door with a 455. The car is loaded but has been sitting since I believe 1985. It is completely loaded, including rear air ride. The compressor is still mounted under the hood for that.

The car has some rust but my preliminary inspection of it says it's not real rusty. I will know better later today. The driver's front fender and windshield were ruined when a grain dryer fell over against the car. Also the headliner has been ruined by mice. I've known this car since the early 80's when the current owner bought it. It was quite a standout in it's day for a 75 Pontiac in all black. The owner always kept the car in pristine condition. My plan is to part it out but I figured I'd post the car for sale here first just in case someone wants to revive it. The 455 has been run every year just to make sure it doesn't seize. The car is 100% intact at this point.

If I part it I will run a new ad with prices for parts. $1100 for the complete car.

Beautiful car....
Can you send me some pics when you pick it up . Is the fender repairable or should it be replaced ? Does it have the TOD ?

Sure, I will get you some pics. I doubt the fender is repairable, it's damaged pretty much front to back.

I'm sure a TOD will be no problem because it's the same owner since the early 80's. I think the last sticker on it was 1985 when I looked at it last week. It seems to me it shows 107,000 miles.

It used to shine like the one in the pictures, quite a stunning car but years of sitting have not been kind to it.

Even has the AM/FM 8 track!

When you post pictures at least give a chance for people to consider the car before you strip it. Surely there weren't many 455-powered Canadian Pontiacs (1975 was the final year, for 76 the 400 was top engine).

They were sturdy cars.

Just on my way to pick it up, I'll try to put up some pics later.

I agree, I'm betting it's pretty rare.

You betcha.

I was going to start stripping it today but likely it won't happen until next week, so there's more time to save the car if anyone wants.

I just looked underneath and from what I can tell there is nothing wrong with the floors or the frame. Everything there looks perfectly solid. Clearly what's under the vinyl top is a concern.

Intermittent wipers, dual visor vanity mirrors, dual remote outside mirrors, reading light in the headliner, rear sway bar, the list goes on and on.

"Will that be cash, or Chargex?" went the jingle.

Man, that 75 Parisienne is loaded! Divided seats, power seats, tilt, Custom Cushion wheel, at least 1 finned wheel cover, bumper guards & strips (it would be hard to find replacements), cornering lights, twin remote mirrors, pw pdl AND the 455. I can't tell if it has cruise. Other than the fender and what is beneath the vinyl roof cover, the car looks salvageable. I would want to find a roof section to replace that one though. Even the bumpers don't appear to have rot, as was often the case behind those big rebar supports.

All the wheel covers are present, and yes it has cruise as well as the compressor for the rear air ride is still under the hood. Not much it's missing. Still no evidence of a posi though.

I just realized, never checked for an owner's manual.

I like the dealer tag on the back too, plan to save that.

No owner's manual but when I went to check I noticed the cool clip in litter container on the right kick panel as well as the reclining passenger seat!'

Talk about options...

Not sure how reliable it will be after sitting so long....

But the "bones" of it look pretty darn good still.

I still have a Chargex ashtray. That was quite a car when new with those options. You would think it has posi when it was ordered with everything else. Real solid looking floors.

I'm not a 455 guy, were they the same in Pontiacs and Olds, maybe Buick in these years?

In 75 each division still had their own 455.

That car looks like something a GM rep would have driven. I had a cousin who was a GM rep during the 70's and he would get us new cars with 3000 miles on them. The cars were all fully loaded except for a posi diff. I only bought one a 1976 Monte Carlo that was fully loaded , it even had an electric sun roof. The reason he would not order a posi was for fuel economy on the highway. his reasoning was a posi would cost at least 1 mpg. My father bought a new Caprice Classic every year during the 70's. through him until he was transferred to British Columbia.

Carl,

If you end up taking it apart ( I'm hoping someone will restore it as well),

and the car has a working in dash tach, I might also be interested in that as well.

Thanks

-G

No tach in these cars that I am aware of. On the pod opposite the speedometer it's a fuel economy gauge (a.k.a. vacuum gauge)

So far no interest from anyone in restoring it. I had planned to start taking it apart last night but that plan fell to pieces. I may try to get it running Monday evening and once I've done that the dismantling will begin if no takers by then.

I had one just like it in the late 80's, same power train and options including AC, except it was triple red. It was an Alberta car and really solid at that time. Great car to drive on the highway and no problem to drive it beyond the limit of the speedometer. I sold the car but not before I swapped in a 350.  I kept the 455 engine and 400 trans; still have them.

That looks like it needs a good cleaning and tlc to get back on the road. Not for me but but what would the selling price be for the whole car?
