Diego and all, thanks for the interesting discussion.  I really enjoy hearing about the cool and sometimes quirky information about Canadian Pontiacs, and what made them unique.  Also the differences between US and Canadian Chevys is quite interesting as well.

Good discussion!

Diego could certainly educate all the guys who've written about Canadian cars!

Please . . . you guys started the discussion. I was just the impetus!

Anyway, I wrote a reply earlier today, but it doesn't appear. I'll be succinct:

Have any of you considered offering feedback in the forum underneath the article? If anyone has wisdom to offer to readers of the article (for example, the possibility that no 396 full-size Pontiacs were built), why not post it there where someone not quite in-the-know will see it?

Downside? You'll have to register to post, but it's no big deal.

Not sure if I said it clearly enough before, but thanks to all who contributed to this discussion and regularly do in all the other discussions on this board.  The guys with the first hand experience and the guys who have done the research have information that most of us would never know otherwise and would probably be lost in history if not discussed on forums like this.  I'm not into naming names, but you all know who you are, and hopefully you know what a great asset you are to the hobby and the history of these cars.

talked to a guy yesterday at the GM engine plant show who is a relative of the owner of Border Chev Olds (Niagara Falls) in the 60s and 70s and told me in 66 they ordered in two 66 Laurentians with L72 engines. One was dark blue the other lite blue

These cars GOTTA be around still somewhere.

Surely they didn't all get parted out in order to put the big blocks into Chevelles and Camaros..............

Another interesting story:

I worked with a guy who sold cars at Sinclair Pontiac Buick in London back in the 60's. He told me they ordered two 427 4 speed Strato Chief's. One was raced at St.Thomas Dragway (to go against Central Chev's 427 Biscayne). This salesman owned one of them and showed me a photo of it from back in the day. Seem to recall he had chrome reverse wheels on it. Not sure if a 425hp 427 was available in '68 but if it were it would  be safe to assume these cars would have the top 427 to go against a rival dealership's car.
