Just curious, anyone seen any extra costs yet with getting old car parts from the tariffs by Trump and counter tariffs by Canada?

Big signs on our side warning not to travell in to US with pot. They never asked me on the Us side if I had any on me or if I had recently smoked any. I don't smoke any how, never have
Son went to Philly and wasn't asked. His friend went a few weeks ago and got the whole car search etc.
A few weeks ago it wasn't legal so they must have had some probable cause.
This whole border and cannabis talk is pure scare and anti Trump talk being promulgated by the government for political gain. Anyone who has ever had a problem with charges should get a pardon ASAP if they want to travel to USA. Government is making it very simple to expunge your record so people should just do it.
My son's friend is a young lady who is all of 4'6" tall and 95lbs. She's a bit of a hippy with pink highlights in her hair, decorating her car with a tie-dyed headliner etc. She was road tripping to California. Needless to say after all the searching there was nothing. Really scared her though as she is an islander who never experienced anything like this before. Anyway, back to the topic. I don't think the new agreement comes into effect for a few months.

According to the news, they are telling Canadians if you admit to ever smoking in your life time when asked you can be banned for life in the US. So yes it is on topic because many gear heads have smoked before. Something to consider when going to the states to buy a car or travel etc. This affects MILLIONS of Canadians, not a handful.
I saw a discussion on tv, the govt is going to do a pardon, not expunge. So the conviction may still show when you cross the border.
In my experience in crossing the border or going through airports, it depends on what the official had for breakfast whether they hassle you or not.

Hmmm. Something tells me Justin might want to hold off on making any trips to the USA for a while....
That's gonna be my answer. You ban me then don't let Trudeau go meet Trump....
It is because the USA recognizes Cannabis as a Schedule 1 drug Federally. The dumber part of this story is that Michigan has medicinal pot already and its next in line for recreational. But admitting to it will get you banned for life. FFS
Going into the states last Wednesday they asked very few questions. When he asked where we were going we said " Hershey " and he said " enjoy " and good bye.
Coming back Saturday afternoon was probably the fewest questions ever asked. Asked me, the driver, where I lived. Never asked the other 3. Asked if we bought anything to which I responded " a few old car parts ". He handed back the passports and said "have a good day". No questions about total value, alcohol, tobacco or such. We commented on it as we drove off. He really hadn't even looked at us.

Obviously you had an honest looking face and travel with people with good haircuts.
