A&W Beyond Meat Burger.......?
Permalink Closed

After being barraged by their commercials for months, I decided to see what the fuss was all about.

I went to a A &W and ordered one of their meatless burgers. It was sorta okay...I guess.

But for $7.75 plus tax ($8.13 in Calgary) I think I will pass on this.

I can get two teen burgers for that kind of coin.....anybody else try it and have a thought?

As someone who has been dealing with the worst gout attack I've ever had since the last week of August I haven't been able to eat meat since (and only ate meat about once a week all summer) I appreciate this so at least I can pretend I'm having a real burger! I've discovered all sorts of "fake meat" at the grocery store and some of it isn't too bad.

My wife, after listening to all their hype, tried it. She said it was too salty and that once was enough.

Too much of a meat lover to even try it. Where's the beef?

Hey Todd, I've tried many veggie products in an effort to try to cut back on my intake of red meat or other "lips and entrails" type of meat products.  I find if you rid yourself of the idea that it has to taste exactly the same as the meat product it's replacing, that some of them can be quite good.

I've bought several of the Yves products in the grocery store and I have found I enjoy the veggie dogs and veggie salami the most.  At first I couldn't believe that I actually liked it, but once I got over that hurdle it's all good.  Haven't tried them on the BBQ yet, but I'm sure it would only make them better (since BBQ makes everything better... lol).

That's the brand I buy. I don't know how they do it but their "fish fillets" actually taste like fish. I also really like their "beef tips". My wife (God bless her) does a fantastic job with meals that don't have any meat. She makes a fantastic "onion" gravy that's great on the fake meat and mashed potatoes etc. Since August I have cut 6 more holes in my belt!

I have literally tried all of the Yves veggie products and enjoy most of them. Veggie burgers are generally either soya based or vegetable based and i love them all. I have turned on many people to these more healthy choices.
