1968 Parisienne 427 parts wanted - ok - I know - good luck buddy

Everyone remembers this car and the as-the-stomach-turns decisions by several owners who agonized over parting out one of the only 17 427 Parisiennes for 1968.

Well I've got it back again and in its travels it lost some jewelry - specifically the air cleaner and the fender emblems.

Maybe a really dumb question but I have to ask:  Anybody willing to part with theirs??  All leads appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for the link!

Sad but not surprising that the air cleaner shown in that listing is off a 396 not a 427.  People dont seem to give a hoot about selling incorrect parts.  Maybe they just dont know.

The air cleaner Im looking for has a short oval snorkel pointing down at passenger side control arm and being an automatic will have a thermo valve part way into the snorkel.

These pictures show the difference in snorkel length between 396 and 427.

427 is on left and is shorter. Both are automatics.

This is a picture I grabbed in 2013 of the original one off your car car, Dave:

Somebody will probably use it on a Chevy, or chrome the lid & use it on an SS427.

My 66 and 67 427 cars are a different air cleaner then the 396 ones too. Also see them with no tube, one tube and two tubes. Smog I guess

So Dave, am I to assume that you are planning to restore this one?

Im going to have another look at it and decide.  I sold it (at a loss) because I didnt have the heart to part it out.  Now that some critical pieces are missing its getting harder to justify the major resto the car needs.

It does have those amazing quarters which were full NOS when it was "restored" back in the early 1990s.  I think the doors and one fender were also NOS.  So the car would make an amazing organ donor for someone doing a 68 2 door.

 Aha... a tough call indeed.

I was surprised to see it here actually as I thought it had already been parted long ago.

Best of luck on whichever way you go with it.

Thanks for the words of understanding MC.

On the air cleaner issue - I have a 66-67 CP air cleaner with 396 - 325hp decal that I can through into a trade/cash deal for 68 stuff.  I will post pics of this soon.

I imagine it's a hard decision to make, especially with a car this rare and kind of like the quintessential Canadian Pontiac, but you have to be practical too.  It's more of a project than I would be able to take on, I can say that.

But... if you're up for it and can gather the needed parts, more power to you!  You will have my respect, no question!

Hey - here's an idea Carl!  How about I sell it to you, then you part it out and become famous as the only guy on the planet to have parted out 2 of the 17 1968 427 Parisiennes.  Your'd be famous for having parted almost 12% of the entire production line!     HAHahaha - I hope that wasn't below the belt!

I can't even take the credit, although it was my brother and his son who did it so the Stevenson's still get credit.

I ended up buying the engine though, guilt free I might add...............!

They scrapped the rest of it, though, a 427 Parisienne 4 door...... talk about rare.....

Silly question, how did the air cleaner and fender emblems go missing?

Not to derail but does anyone remember that really rusty 68 or 69 Beaumont SD 396 that someone had on here way back around 2008-9? I often wonder what happened to it.
