Yes, I've mailed a bunch of stuff during the strike too and it really doesn't seem to have changed much.

I mailed a package to LA 3 days ago. Its till at the fricking post office sitting there. It was an envelope and charged me $30 to LA. I mailed a package 2 days after that to Calgary...and its already in Calgary today. Someone mailed me a package from King City On to my house in London....and its here. 1,5 day later....no consistency.
The Xpresspost was $30 the package (same size) to Calgary was $14. They have lost numerous package in the USA and I never got a dime rembursment from Canada Post because they say once its in the states its not their problem. WTF do i get insurance for then?

Well that's interesting, I've shipped lots to the US and didn't know this.

No more buying insurance when I ship Canada Post to the US, that's for sure.

My experience with Canada Post insurance few years back.

Bought a vintage airplane poster for my brother-in-law for $30...on a large flat board from a kijiji seller.

I put it in between two sheets of masonite, fragile written all over it,and insured it,

going from Calgary to Woodstock, Ontario.

Arrived damaged, poster was ripped... (how?)....went to claim my  insurance.

First question was, "do you have proof of the value ?"

Because it was vintage, I needed to get a antique dealer to appraise the value, blah, blah, blah.

How much would that cost?

Also "It could take up to six weeks to get an answer" (if you have an appraisal or retail receipt)

Lesson learned, insurance is a waste of money  with Canada Post unless you have proof of the value....

i would think insurance money on car parts would also be difficult to get from Canada Post.

Being in Toronto the service has been non existent. my daughter has a parcel mailed to her on October 22nd from Richmond BC and latest update says December 4th delivery.

I had two parcels mailed in Mississauga to my Toronto address November 10, one arrived on the 21st and one on the 26th.

I purchased two items this week on Cyber Monday, both shipped by courier, CanPar and Purolator, one from Barrie  and one from Oakville. Both arrived today, two days later.
