Hi guys besides the emblems of course is there a number or letter in the cars vin that makes it a C/S and not a normal parisenne ? Thinking I should know this ! I may have a Fake one and not even know it thanks guys
Good point, norontcan. In Bill's case, since his CS is a convertible, there should be a 47467 ------ at the beginning of his vin number. Actually Bill, I have seen your '64 and do believe that yours is an authentic CS.
Thanks guys I have spent a little bit of time under the hood and funny I havent noticed a body tag above the heater box?? I"ll have a looky see tmrw and see..but yes my vin is 4746700xxxx so is the last 4 numbers the number of my car that was made that yr ?
The rest of the numbers on the data plate, which is on the firewall, will give us much more info to decipher.
Post the numbers, or a pic of the tag, and we'll give the numbers a go.
Suspect your car is an early production but the date is on the tag.
You should really consider getting the GMVVS package for the car.
ok heres what I could see on the data plate as last owner sanded it a little to much and painted over it,,some of the numbers or letters my be wrong as I see them for now..Stlye ,7467.2.9.25 trim.top 10.270 body 701005 theres a number at the bottom B70 m?35 u ?63 there is a color number or letter but cant read it,,I do know the car was goldy brown factory ....hope this helps Thanks guys
also is there a number out there of how many 327 powerglide bucket/ console 64 C/S were made ? I have heard a few different numbers ! again thank you guys !!!
Style 7467 is exactly what started this thread 8 cyl Parisienne Custom Sport convertible
2.9.25 = date of manufacture = second shift, 9th month ( September ) 25th day so as summized above an early car
top 10 is the colour of the convertible top
trim 270 is the interior = saddle and is a code used only on the Custom Sports
Paint is most probably S which is Saddle Bronze Metalic ( this is from an American sheet so the Canadian name may differ slightly but the paint code or mix formula will be the same ) or T which is Singapore Gold metalic
B70 =padded dash
M35 = powerglide
U63 = push button radio
The GMVVS documents will tell you the number of V8 Custom Sport convertibles built but won't break it down any further such as engine size or transmission type.
Paint is most probably S which is Saddle Bronze Metalic ( this is from an American sheet so the Canadian name may differ slightly but the paint code or mix formula will be the same ) or T which is Singapore Gold metallic
'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
wow you guys are amazing,,I am sure saddle bronze is the exterior color it came with Will be blue ..the interior was white or off white ,but last guy redid it in black and he did a nice job so it can stay that way..the top is white or off white and new one is White so not what it was new color wize and thats ok,,,really amazes me that you can tell that it has a padded dash..so glad we can find out the things we do on such old cars..I really like that GM Doc and yes gotta get one also thanks again guys
yep something is up..270 is saddle was told it was a white or off white ? before doing it black,,maybe it was more on the off side than he figured haha..the top though is white or yes off but not saddle off ? old car I guess alot can change along the way ..changing it again the way I want it to be !!
On the posted GMVVS document that is one of very few I've ever seen where they went to the trouble of further breaking down the V8 number into also an engine size and 4 spd combo. So 2915 Custom Sport convertibles were made with V8s and of those 200 were 327s with a 4 speed transmission.
Thanks also for posting the swatch page for Canada. In Canada GM used 1 set of codes and usually kept the name the same across their entire line. In the US they used 1 set of codes but a 1964 code S for example would be Saddle tan metallic on a Chevrolet, bronze mist metallic on a Buick, Saddle mist metallic on an Oldsmobile and saddle bronze metal on a Pontiac.
