I had a red on black 75 with black top. 360 car for about a year. Traded to my sister for a custom street van. She kept the Dobie something like five years, never had a lick of trouble with it.

..And Les Nesman with his Vespa scooter. He was Dr. Diction, in fact in one episode he was caught "vandalizing" a billboard for a pickle company. He was actually correcting the grammar. The pickle company president showed up at the radio station and was willing to listen to reason. Les never backed down on his grammar campaign, and went on to say, "you might as well say Kosherest!" The president dropped all charges and presumably used "Kosherest" on his next billboard.

Everybody knows that Loni Andersen (Jennifer) ran the place.

FYI  Gordon Jump (Mr. Carlson) actually appeared in a 1974 Canadian Pontiac ad for the Parisienne Brougham.

During a sportscast Les called Chi Chi Rodriguez (pronounced Chee Chee) ..Chy Chy Rod dre geez. I think Venus and Dr. Fever had a bet about his pronunciation.

"As god is my whiteness, I thought turkeys could fly"

"This is so screwed up, even I get it" (Johnny)

The writers of the show were awesome.

johnny to Herb. "jennifer is the result of the most cunning, successful sex change operation in history." That one had me rolling on the floor.

 Booogarrrrrr!!!

And FWIW, I just found out recently that Cordobas and Magnums shared windshields with '71-'74 Satellites, Road Runners, etc.  The cars looked so different I never realized that they shared that body lineage.  I knew the chassis were the same, though...

My Cordoba experience...buying my aunts mint 77 with a 318 and realizing about a day later it was probley the worst mistake in my young life to that point.Sold my 74 Chevelle to a kid and always regretted that move. That 74 Chevelle was twice the car that Cordoba was...still bugs me!! Haha

I've never owned one, but was never left with the impression that they were great cars.  I never really liked their styling FWIW.

To put it in perspective, keep in mind that this was around the time that Chrysler almost went out of business (well, one of the many times actually), so they were really just on survival mode - recycling old platforms like other companies often did just before they went under or were taken over by another company (think Packard, Studebaker, AMC, etc.).  The difference is that Chrysler was considered large enough and important enough to be bailed out by the US government.

Then Lee Iaccocca moved to Chrysler, went to town with the K car platform and brought over Hal Sperlich from Ford to revive an idea that they had worked on together over at Ford in the 1970s - the minivan... it was all uphill from there, for a while anyhow - until the "merger" (which was anything but) with Mercedes, etc. etc.
