Visit to a Phoenix Arizona Wrecking Yard - Desert Valley Classics
Permalink Closed

While in Phoenix recently I got to spend an hour at this place

https://www.dvap.com/

When we were planning our trip I didn't really plan on making a visit.

However the friends we were staying with in Phoenix live in a northern suburb called Peoria, and as it turned out Desert Valley was a 20 minute drive away

When I found this out I had one of those " I may never get this close again" moments  and made the decision on the last day of our trip to go for a look around

I took over 100 pictures to be posted shortly

One post will focus just on the project cars that they are selling whole

One post will focus on pictures of the cars in the yard that are being parted

If you are a junkyard fan I think you will find this interesting

To go into the yard you have to go into the trailer where the office is and pay 2.00 and sign in - I ultimately found where the 60s and newer Pontiacs wereDSC03497.JPGDSC03498.JPGDSC03499.JPGDSC03500.JPGDSC03501.JPGDSC03503.JPGDSC03504.JPGDSC03504.JPGDSC03505.JPGDSC03506.JPGDSC03507.JPGDSC03508.JPGDSC03509.JPGDSC03510.JPGDSC03511.JPGDSC03512.JPG

When I was down in the Phoenix area in early 2005, I visited 3 of the Desert Valley Auto Parts yards. Their 7th Avenue N yard where you visited, their Casa Grande yard which is still in operation, and another yard that was a bit west of their 7th Avenue N yard, over towards I17. I think they also previously had a yard in Black Canyon, as on their TV show they went to the Black Canyon yard that was closed even at that time. I've visited both the 7th Avenue N and Casa Grande since.

I've bought stuff at both the 7th Avenue N yard and at Casa Grande. Fortunately the piece I bought at their 7th Avenue N yard was already removed, it was just sitting there. The pieces I bought as Casa Grande needed to be removed from a 69 El Camino, so I waited better part of an hour for the guy to remove them. Instead of just using a nut driver to remove the speed nut, he had to use his cordless drill and proceeded to break the studs off. I got a reduced price, but still ended up with a broken part.

Desert Car Kings was the show that featured Desert Valley Auto Parts.  They'd pick a car out of inventory, then restore it in a couple weeks to sell at their auction.
