The ONLY thing salvageable is the VIN and cowl tag....great donor my ass. It's worthless. But somebody will buy it, put the VIN and cowl tag on a new body and pass it off as an original car. BS, a whole lot of BS. Arrrrrrggh!!!!

There was a 1969 COPO 427 Camaro that sold at Barret Jackson four or five years ago that had been rebodied with a new shell. It had all the documentation and still sold for big money. I guess to the buyer it didnt matter if it had been rebodied, being such a rare car. The donor car looked very much like this one, but was a COPO car.

The sad thing about it is that only the data plate would be original, but it will be passed on as an original car.

Personally I don't care so much about numbers until somebody claims it's an original and expects the buyer to pay a premium for it based on the lies.

I don't care too much for dishonesty.

Knowing human nature, some unscrupulous person will try to pass off a Dynacorn body as an original Camaro. For certain.

Let me play devil's advocate for a minute. I don't see any other way in Canada to register a Dynacorn rebody on the street with an assigned V.I.N. In the U.S. there are provisions for low-volume cars to be legal for registration ( reasonable) but in Canada there is not, and the cars will have to meet all safety & emission standards (unreasonable and virtually impossible to be left with anything close to a stock '68 Camaro). The Model A contingent have been doing this for years with the old archaic screw-on V.I.N. plates. If the government wants to play it that way, then this is a way to raise a selected finger to the powers that be. If you own the V.I.N. & the title is clear, you are not trying to wash a stolen V.I.N.  It is pretty slippery though.

BTW I don't advocate for the devil, really.

I can't believe how naive everyone sounds. This practice has been going on for years. I've heard of plenty of guys doing it and everyone knows it, so please.

I was being sarcastic about it. I know its been going on for years, in the Corvette community restamping parts and engines has been going on for decades to brag about numbers matching.

I always thought that moving VINs from one car to another was illegal, and considered fraud, but it sounds like I've been wrong? And how can stamping numbers in a block make it "matching numbers"? There is only one original engine block for every car, and stamping some numbers in it doesn't make it original.

I have been wondering about this stuff I have a 63 327 250 hp made I think Aug but its for the 64 production ..It has NO vin but do's have some numbers and letters ? plant.or ? not sure what they mean But I was wondering speaking of vettes if once installed could be passed off as numbers matching? The fellow I bought it from told me a vette owner would love to get it ?  at that time thought maybe high HP or something  or even my 64 C/S for that matter ? if so I don't think that is right ..I certainly wouldn't say it was..yr code correct but not numbers matching

Probably just got the VIN and trim plates, and some paperwork.  The car was probably shipped in an envelope...

The only thing worth anything on that car would be the disc brake set up and those are just cores.
