I'd be ditching that new bike and buying this Beaumont

Ha Ha Todd, this is the problem... I love 2 things, both with wheels, both that take up way too much money AND time, hence the reason I'm looking for something done and not a project.  But I also love the idea of owning an older car SO MUCH more than the benefits provided by newer muscle cars.  I know that for sure now after trying out a newer one (if anyone remembers I sold my 68 Beaumont Convertible to buy something I could 'jump in and drive' but the thought of doing that seemed like much more fun than reality.  I've been badgering the current owner of my 68 but he's still in love with it, as was I....I was such a dummy for letting it go and others on here told me I would regret it no

The beauty of having a convertible is you get the fresh air and nice view of a motorcycle but have the option of a roof or a heater if needed. Also have no fear if a rabbit or a porcupine crosses the road in front of you! And in my mind there is no difference in reliability if I head across the country in my old car or in one of our newer vehicles.

And you get to visit with your wife while you drive! We love our convertible. As happily married as we are, I tell people buying that convertible was one of the best things ever for our marriage. We love to drive around looking for new highways in Manitoba that we've never been on before. Convertible for the win!

Any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay....problem is, we don't know that other someone. If you really want and spend more than wanting...just need to find other ways to save or what to give up. She is a beauty car..but is a long way from home. Tough call..especially when you set a budget.

PS: If you do buy and he will hold it till spring,it's a beauty drive in a classic. Canso would be up for another run to drop you off.biggrin

I believe it's sold now, noticed the link is dead and ad removed. Probably just as well, I'm not good at making snap decisions especially when I can't actually look and touch though I don't doubt the car was as good or better than I imagined. Hopefully went to a great home.

Thanks again for everyone's comments and I'm not sure if Jim Hawkeye5766 was serious or not but just to even throw that comment out just shows what a tight knit and selfless group of people hang out on here!

My endless searching continues, found a fairly local 67 Beaumont coupe, 454, 5 speed Tremec.think I'll follow up on it.not a convertible but hey, still have my new motorcycle :)

Yep She went to a great new home over here in Calgary Alberta and stayed in Canada...... Went to a close friend of mine, it will be parked next to a 1969 Chevelle ss convertable 396 4spd car same color. I am sure he will post on here once things finish up and she makes the safe trip here......

Wow, that was quick. I meant to call him today (about something else) but forgot.

He's got more cool projects on the go and I think one of them might be for sale when it's done.

He does have a real nice 67 Malibu 327 4 speed for sale. My cousin owned it for many years.

Congrats to you buddy Darren, I think he's being greedy if he has a 69 Chevelle SS Convertible already, just kidding of course, obviously not overpriced if he snapped it up that quick.

Thanks Carl,  I think the 67 Malibu you're referring to might be the other one he has listed, asking $35K for that one too.

I'll keep my eye out for those other projects but if you get an inside track on something sub $30K please let me know. wink

I know that last summer the Malibu could be bought under $30K. Would you like me to ask him?

Serious....always up for a road trip...especially with 2 classics on the ride home! If you need a lift or see something you like on the Island...just shoot me a PM.

Thanks Jim, I can't express enough how generous that is!!  I just might take you up on the Vanc Isl idea, there is something in Port Alberni and another one on one of the smaller islands too (can't remember which one right now).  From what I've read you really know your way around a car much better than I ever will.

Let me think it over a bit (surprised? biggrin), I "like" that car just not sure I love it especially when I'll still likely be pushing $30k to get it home. And I don't want to put you in an uncomfortable position asking him either.  There's one similar close to me for around $20K and I'm not saying it's an equal (has PG on column) but I should probably explore that one first.  Again really appreciate the kind offer.

I purchased the 66 Beaumont. Probably will not be here in Calgary until spring. 68 Vert, to make you feel better about not getting the car I also had to pay GST on the car so the price climbed another $1750.00.

I spoke to John about the car and found out a little more history of the car (Thanks, John) which was good to hear. Blue with white interior has always been one of my favorite colors, and loved the look of the car and all the options was a plus.

I am now looking for a set of front and rear bumper guards for the car, so if anyone knows of any please let me know.

Here is a picture someone sent me of the car when it was down in the USA for a show.

Hi 427, congrats again, beautiful car, extra cool that it's so well known here and you received some extra history!  Thanks for your note of concern, I had my chance to purchase it too, just glad it went to someone who will enjoy it!  Here in 'tax central BC' I would have had to pay GST AND PST so I would have had to add 12% on top, plus I received a transport quote for about $2500 so I would have been north of $41,000 to have it home in my garage.  Enjoy, there's always another car out there for me!

John, I talked to Brian last night, he is going to try find them. Then hopefully sell them to me. He would not sell the speedminder /gauge dash. That is for one of his other cars.
