Hyundia Police Santa Fe's ?

I was driving past the East End Toronto Police garage tonight which is in an industrial area near the Home Depot my ultimate destination when I had to do a double take, they had a new load of what appeared  to be Hyundia Santa Fe's, about 40 lined up all in Toronto Police grey awaiting prep for deployment. Toronto Police use Grey with White doors and trim. I had a quick look on line and found many examples in Australia and Europe of Santa Fe's in police use, even found a photo of the grey and white scheme. I'll be watching the road closely for these new units.

If they are ghost cars, it'll take a bit for people to clue into the fact....

But the cops will end up having a bonus of driving a pretty nice car imop. Wonder how they would stand up?

Maybe Hyundai is sensing an opportunity to move into the Canadian Police vehicle market with GM having some negative publicity, particularly in Ontario.  I am not sure but I think Hyundai has a Canadian plant,

I think Hyundai has been working very hard to raise its reputation for quality in the last few years - I know they offer one of the best warranties ( 5 years or 100.0 K ) comprehensive.

if GM was not fighting image problems in Canada they could be a major player in the police market - the new Blazer is getting very good reviews for its powertrain that makes 305 hp without turbos plus its nine speed transmission - translates to very good throttle response.

Law enforcement service would certainly be a good test for their product. They'd be smart to all but give the police the units. Extreme testing and better visibility to the public as a tough vehicle.

The city that I worked for purchased a Hyundai Accent for the bylaw dept. They put that car through hell and it lasted really well. No real problems that I can recall and only a safety recall for rusty front control arms.

I'm waiting for Todd to chime in with his experience as a Hyundai service advisor.
