GM Big Block PCV Hose Still Available New

Every so often an oddball little part is still available from GM for our old cars. This is one of them.

I ordered it last week because I didn't like a piece of straight bulk PCV hose, it takes too big an area to get from the carb to the PCV valve in the left valve cover. This hose, as you can see, has a nice molded 90 degree end at one end, and you just cut to fit (obviously, because it's likely close to 3' long!)

Part number 3981058 if anyone cares. I'm sure it could be used almost anywhere that the PCV hose takes a large area to get to the valve.

I bought one years ago from Classic Industries, and it had the GM part # on it. I've since bought a few from GM.

Now for the big question, which end does the molded 90 elbow go on? I put it on the PCV valve end, a buddy said it should go on the carb end.

Carl do you have the holder bracket for the hose that attaches to a intake bolt?

I'm glad you posted that. I think I might have one of those brackets somewhere.

Without more angles it's hard to say for sure but it sure looks like mine looking at it straight on.

I was going to put the hose on with the elbow off the front of the carb but now that I see that picture, and as long as I can find my bracket, the elbow at the valve makes a lot more sense and will make it the neatest.

When I buy a repro bypass hose for my 70 big blocks it comes with that style hose clamp.

Oh cool, I've only seen the tower clamp repros.

Are the ones with that hose any good? I hear the tower repros are awful.

They don't seem to be the best quality, but haven't leaked.   Nor have any of the reproduction tower clamps I've used.

I would take a hose,  add me to the list.

Dang, i did not realize those hose clamps would be original equip, i thought only tower or spring.  Probalbly tossed a ton of those over the years.  Will have to grab them when i see them from now on.
