To put the phrase "very rare" in context, GM Canada built only eleven 1967 Malibu SS (136-series) convertibles with 396 power, 66 of the 738-series 1967 Beaumont SD convertibles. Rare is the ONE 1977 Corvette in Chartreuse, or the 20 L-88 Corvettes in 1967.

I guess if they made 7960 of the Monte Carlo SS models with the 5.3 V8s that would comparatively be a bunch. They only made 1919 of the 1971 Monte Carlo SS454s.

Nice car regardless.

my 72 monte 402 is one of just under 10000 its medium not as rare as my 65 invader!

By 2006 the Monte Carlo was a dead horse, cancelled part way through 2007. GM only ever built 32,567 Monte Carlos in 2006 and the majority of those left Oshawa and went directly  south to the USA. Assuming the number quoted is correct then that's actually +20% of production in 2006. The real test though is trying to buy one of these in Canada and I can tell you from personal experience trying to find one of these V8 Monte Carlos is next to impossible. Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP's with V8s are hard to find but doable, try for a Buick Allure Super or Monte SS V8 and you will be pulling your hair out.
